Chance the sister of a current Blue Devil..please?

<p>I'm applying ED to the College. Also, my brother attends Duke right now, don't know if that helps a lot?</p>

<p>Asian female attending fairly competitive public high school in Missouri
GPA-
Unweighted- 3.71
Weighted- 4.17
Ranking- either top 7% or 8%</p>

<p>I've taken all the honors and AP courses possible at my school and will continue to do so senior year. (School doesn't offer IB and has a limited selection of AP's).</p>

<p>Test Scores-
SAT: (2320) CR 800, Math 720 (missed two q's argh!), Writing 800, Essay 9
SAT II's- signed up for three in October, one will be Math II
PSAT- 227, I'm assuming I'm a Semi-finalist
ACT- 34, (all 35's or 36's except 30 in Science), Essay 8
AP's- US Gov 4, Chem 3</p>

<p>Activities-
-Selected to the Missouri All-State Orchestra for 3 years and prob will be again this year
-Co-founder of school's first and only finance club
-Member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra soph. and junior (and senior) years
-Vice president of school's Model UN
-Member of Science Olympiad team that wins regionals often and goes to state every year. Individually have won a second-place and third-place medal
-Member of NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M Music Honors Society</p>

<p>Sports-
Cross-country (JV and varsity) for three years
Tennis for one year (junior year)</p>

<p>Job- I work at Subway (trust me this job actually took me a month to find)
I also give a few little kids violin lessons each week.
Volunteer- over 100 hrs at local park working the front desk, etc.</p>

<p>i think these chance threads are pointless but I say you have a great shot.</p>

<p>yeah these threads are somewhat pointless, it makes kids who think they got a shot get a big head and think their a shoe in, but can also make kids who think they’re a bit shaky feel really insecure when they really shouldn’t be. </p>

<p>As a side note, I don’t think having a sibling will affect your chances by much, if at all.</p>

<p>Why don’t you ask your brother?! Wouldn’t his advice hold more weight than people on a message board?!!</p>

<p>you got a 9 on your essay and still got an 800 on the writing portion? jeez I got a 12</p>

<p>actually, your legacy (your brother) will help a lot! it wont at a school like stanford or upenn where they only consider cross-generational legacies. I cant tell you how many siblings i have met when I was at duke. i think you will get in! and i’m critical when it comes to giving out chances!
