Chance the unexpected.

3.4 uw, 4.0 weighted GPA. 2200/2400-SAT
How do I stand for Cornell, Yale and MIT?
I have recently visted Cornell, and MIT. I genuienly admired the avid students and the gorgeous campuses. How do I stand?

sigh.

Give us more information. But as it stands, not well.

EC’s? Awards? Courses of Study?

What does 2200-2400 SAT mean? Have you actually gotten a score in that range yet, or are you just assuming. Lots of people “genuinely admire” Ivy Leaguers and Ivy League campuses.

What are your extracurriculars? Are you an under-represented minority? What’s your class rank? What type of HS are you at? How many semesters do you have left to fix the GPA? How many AP’s have you taken? Is there anything specifically unique about you?

wmmk, i’m guessing she’s saying she scored a 2200 out of a possible 2400. I’m with you on all of your other questions though – ccstudent, it’s nearly impossible to predict someones chances without more information.

Your GPA looks kind of weak. Class rank?

gpa is rediculously stupid- u can say its weak. it is different at every freaking school- ud have to actually see within the school and what courses and what grades in each course

**you CANNOT say its weak or that its strong without looking deeper

That’s why I asked for class rank…

Wneckid99, GPA definitely varies from school to school, but even at places like Andover and Stuyvesant, 3.4 is a little weak. I also saw some of CCstudent’s posts stating that his/her only activity or one of his/her only activities is Model UN.

However, he/she also stated that Cornell was his/her first choice. At Cornell, there a few different undergrad schools.

MAYBE ED at Cornell would work out, but based on the fact that you were interested, I’d presume you’d be applying to Cornell SEAS, which is really competitive.

I don’t mean to sound pessimistic, but admissions are tough these days. If you write AMAZING essays, you’ll stand a decent chance.

It really depends on your circumstances.

I have a 3.4 at a NY public school, and I got into:
-Cornell
-Duke
-WashU
-Rice
-Tufts
-Carnegie Mellon

I second Keshira’s question: What is your class rank? If it is high enough, it could outweigh the somewhat low GPA.
