Supplement topic: (APPLYING BUSINESS)
Lakeview Tutoring Services Est. 2009: (Founder/CEO): I had problems with money in my house, dad unemployed, mom sick and then got a low wage job. My two sisters were in Medical School, they had loans, but they also needed some sort of money from parents. I needed to help my family somehow by doing something I’m good at, (not selling drugs haha), so I started a Tutoring Company by myself. Then after 2 years of tutoring kids for an average of $10 an hour, I made approximately 60 dollars a school week, along with 40-50 dollars on the weekends, I can say I made over 3000 dollars all together.

What are my chances for: (ALL RD)

Match/Safties:
PSU
Northeastern
Boston U
Binghamton

Already been accepted to Stony Brook

You’re doing pretty good. Get in that top 10% range and you’ll have a pretty good chance. It would also be good if you could raise your SAT to about 2200+. Those two things would raise your chances significantly. Also, as I’m sure you know, a lot of your first list of schools are reaches, but you have a decent shot if you get your rank in the top 10% and raise your SAT.

Just putting this out there, it’d be great if you could chance my thread. (:

Well, I don’t think either of those options are possible. I already sent in my apps! :frowning:
Thanks a lot though! Link me !

Aww. ): Well it’s not like it’d be impossible for you to get in with what you have. You’ll be fine. (:

Here’s mine. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1279672-chance-me-uva-others-please-d.html#post13798978</a></p>

MORE OPINIONS NEEDED! AHhhhh

I’d say it helps to be polite and positive, but I’ve done that for days… So I’ll try your approach on my thread, too.

Also, could you comment on my situation in the following forum? Please and thank you. (:

Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmp

Hey, I’d say you have pretty strong stats and have a good chance at most of those schools. dartmouth and duke are definitely reaches, but your matches and safeties are pretty much guarantees. as far as the other “dreams” id say you have a decent-good chance depending on whether or not you get those SATs up.

chance mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1282105-chance-high-school-junior-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

Your SAT I is really low. And most of those colleges require SAT IIs. That and your ethnicity will hurt…

Good luck!

Yuhiko, I agree with you 100%, my SAT is horrible. Do you know/think if these colleges would accept the February SAT or even ACT? or would it be too late. Because that would be the only chance I would have to increase my score drastically :(

Some of the ones with later app deadlines might; but what are you going to do about the SAT IIs? I suggest you take them in february and designate the colleges as recipients at the test (dont wait for the scores to be out before sending them) and then send an ACT asap. Most probably wont accept the rather late scores, but it will still be worth the shot because without fulfilling the testing requirements I think your chances are close to 0.

I see what you mean, I have nothing to lose… AHHH :(

I am curious, when did you start researching colleges and universities? And is there something that prevented you from fulfilling testing requirements? If your two sisters are in med school they should have known about the colleges process and provide guidance for you… as of now it seems that you have been rather lost as to what you were supposed to do in preperation for college.

Low chances for the majority, but fair-good chances for your safeties.

Yuhiko, my sisters were out of country. I’m a procrastinator, so it is entirely my fault. It really sucks. UGH

Did your school not have you paired with a counselor for your high school career?

My school is ■■■■■■■■. I go to a public high school with 5000+ people enrolled in it. It was built to enroll at most 2000… I have 948 in my graduating class. This is absurd.

OK, with a 1900 and no SAT 2s, no chance at Wharton, Cornell, Duke Dartmouth, Uva, Stern. Possibly OK at Michigan. Probably OK at Matches/ Safeties.
