Chance this Astrophysics major

White Male
Out-Of-State (Indiana)

I’m trying to get into Indiana University – Bloomington. That’s my dream school, but I really love ASU and if I don’t get accepted into IU, I wanna really try to go to ASU.

Major: Astrophysics
Intended Minor: Chemistry or Computer Science

GPA (Weighted): 3.45
SAT (Superscore): 1170
Class Rank: 118 / 509 (Top 25%)
Diploma: Indiana Core 40 - Academic Honors Diploma

Activities:

Math Honor Society
German Club
Drama Club (Ran for vice president, didn’t get the part. Still had a good time.)
Baseball
Newspaper
NSHSS
I worked as a computer technician for my school. They said I could talk about that.
Key Club
eSports Team

And then I had an essay that explained why my GPA wasn’t as high as it could have been with some reasons:

  • I have autism, so it's kind of difficult to work and learn as quickly as they wanted to when I took some of my AP/IB classes. (IB Psychology + IB Chemistry here. Hey, how's it goin', IB folk?)
  • My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer my senior year and it's been kind of difficult to work through that with school and everything.
  • I was not the best of students during my freshman year. I had a lot of B's and C's because I was picked on a lot and genuinely didn't care much about school. I just wanted to sit in the library and read and I was okay just getting by with classes.

SENIOR YEAR SCHEDULE:

Precalculus Honors
Economics
German III
ACP English
Newspaper
Physics Honors
IB Psychology
Government

Thanks, y’all.

I think that you’d have a good shot.
Since they are rolling admission, the sooner you get your application in,
the sooner you’ll know for sure.

You may want to use their direct application, rather than the Common App, as that
will provide them with your schedule/grades and allow them to review and respond faster.
