<p>what are my chances at uc berkeley and Rice University?</p>

<p>inteneded major- integrative biology
alternate major- undeclared </p>

<p>the ultimate question is that can my act score which is 3 point above their average make up for my gpa being .4 pts. below?</p>

<ol>
<li><p>uc gpa- 3.7 gpa, 3.55 unweighted, 4.00 weighted (dont worry weakest part of my app) i have taken 12 honors/ap classes freshman to junior year</p></li>
<li><p>33 act
700 Math 2
700 u.s. history</p></li>
<li><p>Personal statement- i mentioned my parents car crash when i was a freshman on how both my parents became disabled and how i had to take care of my mom, dad, and 7 year old bro. </p></li>
<li><p>Extracurricular:
Volunteer- 300 hr. at local hospital (i wrote in my statement on how i started going to the hospital to just get volunteer hours but in the end i want to be a doctor when i grow up) </p></li>
</ol>

<p>clubs/sports:
4 year nhs
4 year csf (secratery 2009)
4 year mesa (secratery 2009)
4 year track and field (3 year varsity and 2 time league champ.)
4 year Red cross</p>

<p>awards:
1. 2008 most improved thrower (made a 45 foot improvement in the discus from freshman year to sopomore year)
2. Captain of the throw squad 2008-present
3. 2008-2009 league champ
4. Ap scholar
5. recieved an award for attending the national student leadership conference on medicine and health care at uc berkeley</p>

<li>neither of my parents have a degree (shouldn't this factor in a little bit?)</li>
<li>i went to an interview at rice and it went real well</li>
<li>im from california</li>
<li>im top 10% in my class of 750</li>

<p>you should be good, the only thing hurting you is your uw gpa, which isnt that bad, i want to retract my high match and say match if you write stellar essays! Berkley should be the same looking around ;)</p>
