Hello!
I am currently a junior at a public International Baccalaureate High School (tested to get in). I went to a standard American public high school for ninth grade. My goal is to become a veterinarian.
Here are my stats!
-GPA (unweighted): 3.95, weighted is still in process but i expect a 4.3 ish?
-I am taking 8 classes currently, 6 of them IB, all advanced/honors (I will most likely recieve an IB diplima next year)
-My IB classes: IB English (havent decided HL or SL yet), IB Math HL, IB Chem HL, IB Bio HL, IB History SL, IB ab initio Spanish SL
-My ECS: school musical (chorus role) 9th, school choir 9-10, school art 10-12, won several awards for art pieces at competitions, school newspaper 10-12 (editor in chief 11-12),link crew (a leadership club) 11-12, 50ish hours of tutoring, 150 hours or more of community service (including volunteering at animal shelter and animal related activities), worked as a kennel assistant at leading vets office since march 2011 from 9-3 every Saturday and Sunday, National Honors Society 11-12(hope to be elected into some leadership position next year as only seniors are allowed to do so)
-I am taking the ACT for the first time on Dec 10th and again in march, my goal is a 33, but am confident I will get at least a 30-33.
-PSAT score in 10th grade in the 91 percentile
-no legacies (but my step-sister graduated from MSU, does that count?)
-the only reason my gpa isnt a 4.0 uw is that my brother attempted suicide when i was in 9th grade and i missed a lot of school and could not catch up as well as I had hoped. I have gotten all As at the IB school. (so a very positive trend in grades)
-I live in Michigan, so will be oos for Cornell
-My school has not released class rank yet
-I am in a class of about 110, my school holds about 500

I want to be an Animal Science major and will apply to Cornell, MSU, U of M(I realize that they have no vet affiliation), Ohio State, North Carolina State, possibly Purdue

Do I have any chance of getting in? What can I do to improve my chances? Any comments at all are appreciated? Is anyone else striving to become a vet through Cornell?
Thank you
