Chance this girl for Ives!

Hey guys,

Please chance me for HYP, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, JHU, Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley, Dartmouth, Brown, Rugters, RIT, and all other top tier schools. I'm planning to pursue a multidisciplinary career, probably combining liberal arts and the sciences togther. I loove both! Teachers on both sides said I have the talent for those two.

Stats:

~HS Junior in Connecticut, but went to a HS in NJ for 2 years before moving to CT.
~Chinese-American
~PSAT: 213 (CR:72 M:76 W:65)
~SAT: 2160 (CR:720 M:760 W:680)
~Top 5 or 10 of my class (rank is not figured out yet b/c I just moved to CT)
~Will take SAT 2 US History, Physics, and Math 2C this May and June.
~Deaf/Hearing impaired.
I wear Cochlear Implant (a special kind of hearing aid, but superior to regular hearing aid) that enables me to speak and hear nearly as well as anybody else, but not without overcoming big difficulities to reach the level I am here today.
Note that I think not too many deaf/hearing impaired people apply to HYP and all other top schools each year. For almost each schools, they probably receieve only one or two deaf/hearing impaired applicants every year or other. So I was told by everybody that HYP and all other schools really want more high-caliber deaf/hearing impaired students, because they don't get too many of them on their campus. So, i guess this is my hook?

Classes:

~I'm not going to put in my current GPA b/c my GPA varies between the two HS in NJ and CT. But my latest weighted GPA from NJ is 4.41/5.0 (according to transcript)

9th grade (NJ):

~World History Honors (A+)
~Biology Honors (A)
~Algebra 2/Trig. Honors (A)
~Study Skills (A+) This class is like study hall, but by NJ law, I have to take this class b/c I'm considered Speical ed. student even I don't need this class as other ppl do.
~Language Arts 1 (A)
~PE (A)
~Journalism (A)
~Spanish 1 (A+) The best in my spanish class. Ironical.

10th (NJ):
~AP US History 1 (A) This AP US History class is split into two years. I will take the exam this coming May.
~Physics Honors (B+)
~Precalculus Honors (B+)
~Geometry Honors (A-)
~LA 2 (A)
~Study Skills (A+)
~Spanish 2(A-) bombed on the spanish finals.
~PE (A)

11th(NJ--for the first semester):
~AP Physics C: (B) I hate this classs....
~AP US History: (A)
~AP Calculus AB (A)
~Study Skills (A+)
~LA 3 (A+)
~Spanish 3(A)
~Economics (A)
~Health (A)

11th (CT--for the second semester)
Same, but I'm taking AP Physics B and Civics now. No Economics, health, and study skills this semester. All grades are looking at all A's.

12th:(projected)
~AP Biology
~AP Envrionmental Science
~Chemistry
~AP European History
~AP English Lit.
~Robotics
~3-D Design (art)

EC:
Not too much. I would say they're pretty weak, compared to other CC's here.
~Featured writer for my HS newspaper for three years ina row(NJ and CT). Would have been an editor if I didn't move to CT.
~Track runner (3 yrs) at school and Jewish Community Center
~worked part-time medical clerk in a local medical office (almost one year)
~Founder and President of my NJ HS's first book club. (Loove to read!)
~Will join more clubs as I settle down in my CT HS (moved here in Feb). Probably Science Olympiad, Science bowl, basketball, envrionment club, and some of others this fall.
~This summer, I'm going to do research with a prof. in University of Iowa on Speech Pathology and write up a paper on it. Could enter Intel this fall if my paper is good enough, since there were ppl who worked with profs. in this university have entered Intel before.
~I'll also probably intern in the one of the world's best research institution, Los Alamos National Laboratory, where America's best scientists and engineers work there. Not too many high school outside of New Mexico can intern in there. So the people there made an exception in my case. This sounds like fun!

~Essays: Talk about how being deaf/hearing impaired has defined me as the person today and how I overcame many obstacles to become the student I am today. (Being deaf isn't easy when you're the only one in your school, and is taking all the hardest courseload available in school)
~Recs: STELLAR! My Math, LA, and Guidance Conselor in NJ said i'm "one of few in my career", "is a genius", "will succeed in anything" I do. that kind of thing. Probably same thing in CT.

So, guys, what do you think? Do I have a chance?

oh, I forgot. I’m planning to take college courses in my local college this fall, and I will volunteer somewhere locally this fall too (planning on over 30 hours of volunteering)

guys, if you don’t know enough stuff or whatever to chance me, then say so. Just don’t leave me wondering or hanging.

pretty average scores; I’m not sure what a cochlear implant is, but I don’t think that anything health-related is actually a hook… extracurriculars look like you’ve beem committed, but nothing too exceptional (nowadays, many applicants work in a lab…)
grades look decent. HYP, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Brown, Dartmouth are all very high reaches (I’d say reject at all except maybe Dartmouth?)
JHU, Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley, Rugters, RIT are viable.

you shouldnt take my opinion too seriously; i am not any admissions officer. keep up the good work!

HYPSM, Brown and Dartmouth are all high reaches –*regardless of anyone’s qualifications. In your case:

HYPSM, Brown, Berkley, Dartmouth: 50/50, in that you should apply to a few (maybe 3 or so) and see what happens.
JHU: Reach, just like above, but more likely than above
CMU: Fit, probably in
Rutgers: In, maybe with $
RIT: In, maybe with $

ok, nevermind. this chances thread is probably all pointless andn the college admissions are all crapshoot. though I don’t know how much a person who has a disability have a chance at all those schools I want to go to.
