Lay it on me

Looks solid (especially if you’re looking at a 4.0 GPA). Since you are African American, why not apply to HYPSM? I have a feeling you could get into most schools (and especially if you get your SAT up a bit). Good luck!

come on guys more feedback PLEAZE

if you get your SAT to 2150-2200 (of course higher can definetly not hurt) then you will be a major contender for most of not all schools.

Definitely into HYPSM with good SAT scores (2100 plus!)

not to mention all of the schools you listed!

edit: well, not DEFINITELY in, but great chance!

What makes people so confident? Thanks but im stunned you think i have that kind of a shot!

-great grades and hard courses at competitive school
-son of immigrant
-underrepresented minority
-strong passion is good
-research is also good
-great recs also good :)

I say in at USC and Boston College. Don’t know alot about the other school so I can’t really say anything about those. I do agree with last few people. You are really unique and all you really need to do is bump up that SAT score a bit. Why not take a chance at HPYS? Good Luck :)

Thanks Gabs91. Hope you are right. People I know are optimistic as well.

omg I go to the same school as you!
Are you full IB?

I need some more opinions. Im losing my mind.

Don’t just apply “for the hell of it.” Research and apply to schools you actually want to go to!

I do want to go to those schools. I just dont think I have a chance to get in so I say its for the hell of it.

you got a good shot at UPenn. if thats ur dream, even if it’s not, go for it. you have very unique qualities so if you combine that with the things you say u have, you should be fine. Best of luck!

I have a feeling you could get into most schools (and especially if you get your SAT up a bit)./quote don’t count on your ethnicity helping you much in the admissions game, especially if you were to go for HYPSM(UP)… I can’t tell you how many 2100+ SAT 3.7+ GPA URMs I know who were rejected/waitlisted from that caliber of schools (this year)… That being said, I think you seem like a pretty good candidate for the schools you mentioned- if I were you, I’d try to do very well on the standardized test.

You’ll be fine at UMich. I doubt you wouldn’t get in there.

arachnophobia12 I could not agree with you more. Ive been telling idiots around me that just because im a URM doesnt mean that im a good applicant. Even my own parents think id get into the likes of Princeton, but I try to explain to them that im no where near that quality. It annoys me when people are so uninformed and stupid.

^ True. People tend to get a little ignorant and say “You’re a URM? You’ll get in everywhere!!!” (a little exaggerated, but you know what I mean).

Nevertheless, you seem like a good candidate.
