Essay: I have a speech impediment (called stuttering) which I’ve battled throughout my whole life. I plan on talking about how I “found my voice” and became a liberal living in a conservative community where I felt comfortable voicing my opinion. Stuttering has shaped who I am as an individual and I would like to showcase how this makes me different from everyone else applying to these top schools. I plan on talking about embarrassing difficult moments and opportunities lost (all the sad stuff). And then I’m going to shift and talk about how this is really a painful work in progress with no fairytale ending as of yet.

Recs: Will be excellent. My AP English teacher is almost like a friend to me and he has seen me struggle, but also realizes my great potential and ability to write. The other will be from my Latin teacher, who I’ve had since 7th grade, and has seen me progress in becoming more comfortable participating in her class.
