I think I will end up focusing a lot of my app on my filmmaking. That is what my college counselor has told me to do. I've taken 2 community college courses on film history and theory (As on both). I'm also doing an Independent Project next year for school on film criticism.

One suggestion my college counselor gave me is to send a documentary I made on HIV/AIDS awareness. It's solid, professional stuff. Not very creative, but very solid. She says it will help connect the film and science aspects of my college app. Any suggestions on this?

I couldn't agree more with your conselor.. it will definately show not only a passion but something non-academic that you excel at...and Yale is real artsy fartsy like that. I say you have a strong chance (good SAT one and two, average, and ecs) but honestly you never know if you might recieve a rejection letter.. not sure if i should tell you good luck because were competing for a spot SCEA...but good luck dude

What do you mean when you say you'll focus your app on filmmaking? Are you going to write your essay about filmmaking or not include some other ec's? Please clarify this.. its a bit confusing what you want to do by "focusing" your app on film-making

otherwise I agree that Yale is really artsy.

Focusing my app just means gearing myself to showcase my filmmaking as much as I can as part of my application. This means including it in essays, extensively mentioning it in interviews, writing it in on my EC list, and sending in a supplementary material. I'm sure there's more I could do. I have yet to seriously get into the application process.

I should also add here that I got my AP scores back yesterday.
They are 5/5/5/4

I commented on your other thread but I should also say here that you should definitely remember not to overshadow your Eagle Scout work. It is a very strong EC and award to have.

thx for everyone who has responded. any others?
