<p>Out of state admissions are extremely tough. I’d apply, but make sure you have plenty of other good colleges as choices.</p>

<p>One positive thing: unlike two other selective colleges in Virginia, I am pretty sure that UVA does not discriminate against female applicants. Those other colleges put too much emphasis into maintaining close to a 50-50 male-female parity, which is unfair.</p>
