Chance Thread

Although your SAT is a little low and gpa is right around average for the admitted student at UW, the AP classes are a point in your favor. I’d say you’re a borderline applicant right now, but what will push you over the top is writing great essays. Don’t write them the day you submit your app; instead draft each first and have several friends, teachers, parents, whatever take a look at them and criticize them, then revise and repeat until you feel your essays really reflect your best effort. There is no guarantee this will get you in for sure, but this will definitely maximize your chances since the UW really values the essays on the application.

Also, get started as soon as possible. UW does rolling admissions, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances are of getting in. Don’t sacrifice essay quality just to get your application off a little sooner, but definitely try to submit well before the deadline.
