<p>Hi guys, I wanted to know from y'all what my chances to get into Cal Poly SLO are
Ethnicity: Asian
Weighted GPA: 3.78
Non-weighted: 3.61
ACT: 23 (just Retook it.. hopefully better)</p>

<p>I have taken a total of 6 AP classes:
sophomore: AP European History (1.. will not be sending this score)
junior: AP Chemistry (3) AP US History (4)
Senior: AP Calculus AB, AP Physics, AP Bio</p>

<p>I've taken two subject test and will take another:
Chemistry: 650
US History: 620
Math II: going to take</p>

<p>School activities participation:
- Band ( 3rd- 12th)
- Peer Tutoring for learning skills (11th)
- Peer tutoring (12th) not for a specific class though
- Gifted Program for High school (11th)
- Vice president of a fun activities club (11th)
- Basketball (9th) </p>

<p>Outside of School Volunteer:
- Lincoln Exhibit at Library ( December 12, 2012 – February 8, 2013 every Friday 6-8)
- Summer Reading Program at Lib (Jun 8 - Aug 17, 2013 every 6-8 Monday)
- Volunteering at Library ( Sep 13, 2013 ----- every Friday 4-6)
- Roughing it Day Camp (5 weeks summer of 2012 (1st grade boys) & 5 weeks summer of 2013 (Kindergarten) from 8am -4pm 5 days a week</p>

<p>I'm interested in majoring in the Engineering field. </p>

<p>Would I better to apply early decision than regular?</p>

Avg ACT: 31
Avg SAT: 1388 (out of 1600)</p>

<p>You need to retake the ACT or SAT and REALLY blow them away since your GPA is solidly below average. ACT 23 won’t get you there. Work hard, Good luck!</p>

<p>Well, first off your GPA is pretty low. ACT is incredibly low for SLO engineering. You would need at least a 31. OK extracurriculars(only because they are in no ways situated to your major. Also, Cal Poly wants engineers who know that thats what they want to do the rest of their life. It doesnt seem that you know what engineering is and am just doing it for other reasons. I have no idea on that, but thats what the admin will think. Dont pick engineering because it makes money, friends are doing it. It will be very hard if this is what you do. For your own sake, please make sure that engineering is what you really want to do. If your ACT stays below a 28. SLO will be a high reach.</p>

<p>Even if you up your ACT/SAT, Cal Poly SLO is a reach. Their engineering program is extremely competitive.</p>
