CR and Writing look a little low. Are you an international student/have you spent a lot of time outside of the states? just curious really, don’t be offended.

Otherwise you’re good to go. I’d say you have a good shot. Good luck!

i only lived in the United States for 4 years. my SAT cr is little bit low. but i think my act english and reading covers little bit. I live in Southern state so most of them take ACT here. but, i do see that few percent of applicants to CU submit ACT score

Ok then because you’re an international student they might be lenient on you.
But just a fair warning, a lot of the international students have mad English skills… the only thing they have issues with is their accent, their writing/cr skills are really good, some better than the native speakers.
Yeah, most of the students are from NY, so the SAT is more common. ACT writing and cr still a little low
Decisions were mailed out April 1st, good luck!!

Decisions were mailed out? I thought they were being emailed…

Also, I think that for engineering Cooper focuses mainly on mathematical and science ability, so CR and W scores on the SAT won’t be as heavily weighted or focused on

lol but a lot of the students here have all three subjects at least 680+. Most people have high math and science ability here haha…
Also the school plugs in applicants data into a formula using SAT and GPA, giving the applicant a score/rating that serves as the primary decision factor for acceptance/rejections.
they mailed the hardcopies, emails yet to come. (according to my classmate who is helping out in the admissions office).

how do you know about that formula? i thought the main factor was the hometest

or does the formula only apply to engineering?

ahhhh :frowning: i really hope the formula thing doesn’t apply to art or arch because if it did then i’m probably not going to get in…womppp

I know about the formula because the professors told us? lol.
for art no.
architecture they might, because Cooper wants the architects to be as proficient in math and science as the engineers, and as talented and creative as the artists.
You never know what they’re looking for though.

scores are not everything. If they are everything they see, i doubt that why admission office exists in almost every colleges.

lol, cooper admissions is very, very numbers based. it’s a common known issue that the admission office does not weigh in the essay questions heavily enough, and both alumni and students have voiced their concerns. But at this point nothing has changed.
Also, I said your scores are a little low, but it’s not like you’re out of the game. No need to be so defensive :P

Is course rigor/grades (particularly tough college level math courses) taken into account?

http://cooper.edu/sites/default/files/uploads/assets/site/files/Catalog12_13_F.pdf

Theres a section where they talk about the averages of accepted students (Student Profile)… For art SATs don’t matter but they matter for arch and engineering…dang it

Also, the middle 50% for arch had an average between 90-95. Mine isn’t quite there because I took so many honors and APs ugh I really hope they take that into consideration

They will. trust me, they will.

Yes, course rigor is taken into account lol.

Is it true they weigh math/science more than humanities classes? All my B’s have been in my English in Social Science classes, and I have gotten straight A’s in my math and science courses including a Calculus III course I took at a community college.

lol I got B’s in my math classes too, doesn’t seem like Cooper dinged me for it.

so I live in canada, was everyone’s, including engineering, art and architecture’s acceptances mailed out? I mean even if I were to get one (which is probably not likely), it would be super late cause everything that any international uni has sent me is like always behind. i am kinda nervous about the decision, like I don’t mind the rejection at all, its just the idea of the e-mail etc. Cooper Union is kind of my last resort, I got accepted to AA, Bartlett and Sci-Arc, but I can’t afford them. Though, I’ve been gotten great response from Canadian Uni’s and two tops ones are offering me a paid research position in theory while I do the practical arch. program. this whole university thing is so nerveracking and wierd lol

Hey fellow Canadian.
You applied to all 3? O.O
Anyways, they send it to your US address, not Canadian one. Ex. mine is in Oregon.
Also only engineering results are out, not art or archi. You should check out their fb page they’ll update it when letters are sent out.
I know exactly what you mean. I got accepted to those schools too with scholarship and I STILL can’t go. Sucks eh. Well Canadian schools aren’t that bad, I’m sure you’ll pull through.

uhh, the problem is that now that I remember, I put in a Canadian address :frowning: I don’t remember if I put in my older bro’s address of Seattle :frowning:
uhhh, sucks right :frowning: well from what I’ve heard, Cooper arch grads aren’t geniuses according to employers  wierd eh, and where I work, people at my office were telling me that it really depends on how you do in the practical industry that in school, but I still think school matters :stuck_out_tongue: this is crazy

Oh…I dunno about you then. xD
Well how well you cope in the industry ultimately depends on the person. So I wouldn’t worry too much about that. I heard the same thing though and find it kinda weird too.
Still, good luck!
