i was wondering what my chances are. Ive been eyeing this one for a while
is here any majors i should apply to to get in easier?

Your HS record isn’t good enough to get in. You’ll need at least 30 college credits with a GPA of at least 3.0 to be consider for admission.

24 credits, but yes, at least a 3.0.

Chris

There is no “major” which will expedite your admission. Undergraduates, because of the sheer number of applicants, are usually admitted based mainly on statistics. In the upper levels (graduate/doctoral), you’ll find that the departments have great say in considering other aspects of the applicant.

Hi everyone. I hope this thread is still active… I have just completed my second year at a CC in Socal and I’m hoping to begin applying to Stony Brook for Fall 2014 as a Biological Sciences major! (Sorry, this is my first post : ) )

Current GPA: 3.43 I’m hoping to raise this up by the time I apply… to hopefully a 3.5 (I’m being realistic here… Gen Chemistry is no joke)
EC: 1) Clinical Care Extender Internship at a Long Beach hospital (I’m going to mention that I have administered chest compressions on a Code Blue patient as an intern), within this internship, I am also in a Physician Shadowing Program where I shadow and Trauma team and the surgeon
2) I was recently accepted into UCI’s Undergraduate Biomedical Research program (will begin towards the end of July… two week program)
3) I’m a member in an honor society at my college: Phi Theta Kappa
4) Also on the Honor Roll list last semester
5) Teaching assistant in Human Anatomy, presented a lecture to a lab class
6) I also work at a local optometry office

Sorry it’s so long!!! Also, would anyone recommend any other universities that I should look in to? Looking to apply to Boston U, U Mich, maybe NYU, Binghamton, Washington U, Seattle U, and Oregon U

Thank you!!!

Hello! Since you have over a 3.0 and most likely have over 24 credits, you’re pretty qualified to apply to SBU! I had a 3.5 when I applied and got accepted! Good luck! Keep getting that GPA up! And great job on all of your hard work!
