Chance to get into UCR

Hi all, I’m a high School senior, and I’m wondering my chances to get into UCR for next year, here are some of my data
UC GPA:3.76
ACT score 23
Took 3 AP in my junior year and 3 in my senior year(including AP calc BC and AP Physics)
A lot community service hours through tutoring programs and Key Club, also Employe of the month at Legoland California

Thanks a lot!!!

You have a pretty good chance of getting in. Intended major?

GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students

High School UC GPA: 3.52 - 4.00
ACT Composite Score: 22 - 29

Your GPA is on target but your ACT score is on the low side. What is your intended major?

The Freshman admit rate for UC GPA in the 3.40-3.79 range last year was 64% so I would say a Match. If you plan to apply for some competitive majors such as Engineering, I would try to bump up your test scores to make you a more competitive applicant.

What about SAT 2 subject test scores?

Biochemistry, Math 2 650 and Physics 670, not good at taking tests…

Biochemistry

@Gumbymom Biochemistry, with Math2 650 and Physics 670

I think UCR is a Match school for you. Good Luck.

Like Gumbymom said, UCR is a match for your intended major. However you should bring your ACT score up to atleast 28. That will almost solidify your chance of getting in

@Gumbymom Thanks for your information!!! Do you think if I should report the SAT Sub scores? Or they are kind of too low? Thank11

I think you are fine in reporting your SAT 2 subject tests. UCR does not put a huge emphasis on these tests and the y can only help not hurt your chances.

@Gumbymom , one more question, is Biochemistry a really hard major to get in or I should go undeclared in life science? Thanks a lot for your help!!!

My advice is if you have a specific major in mind, apply to that major. A direct admit is always better than trying to switch majors later although for many schools, it is not usually a problem but you should check out the requirements to switch.

You look like you have a decent chance at an acceptance so I would select Biochem.

UCR does not discuss the use of major in the admissions process. The website does mention that students applying to majors in the Bourns College of Engineering and the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences are strongly encouraged to take SAT subject exams in Math Level 2 and either Chemistry or Physics.
