Creative Essay
Excellent teacher/counselor recs.

Blah. I'm not hopeful at all, but this whole thing's a crapshoot. So what happens happens!

I'm getting worried here in CA. Everyone's stats seem similar to mine but I've been rejected so much that I don't want to hope too hard. What do you think?

SNeilson
Pretty much the same as my daughter's stats. She's a writer, not a math science student, interested in journalism. After reading countless threads, posts, talking to hundreds of students and parents over the last 5 years, you just can't second guess admissions. Each school, each year, and each entering class is different. The wait should be over soon, possibly today. Good luck!

Mom- school blocked accesss to AIM and any other means of communication with the outside world, so this is an interesting outlet. No one from school seems to have heard from Emory yet, so the idea of mail coming randomly may be true (as opposed to the theory that acceptances come first).

Sneilson- your classes look fantastic, and your GPA looks good (what's your uw?). Chances look quite high. Then again this thing seems more and more random as we go along.

Best of luck. I'll be thinking of all the college confidentialites waiting for letters today as I drag through my first day back from spring break. Fingers crossed as always...

My uw is 3.71. All my classes are honors or AP since 10th grade. So the errant B+ brought my unweighted GPA down. I'm hoping that the adcoms really look at the caliber of classes and the school competitiveness (private, ultra-competitive San Diego) while they look at my unweighted GPA. I'm concerned that my unusual essay (about being a high school blackjack dealer) didn't turn them off.

Wow, SNeilson, I've never seen anyone with stats SO similar to mine...SAT's, SAT II's, and GPA. I'm also VERY worried about getting into Emory, but I'm in MD so hopefully I'll get my letter today and I can let you know! I'm SO nervous...

nycsenorita - How's your college acceptances going? I've been rejected from 5, waitlisted at 4. I'm down to my safeties UW/Tulane. I utterly can't believe what's happened. I thought I was so solid.

You must have applied to harder schools, maybe? My only rejection was
--Georgetown, (but I pretty much knew that was coming)
I was accepted to:
--UMD--College Park (scholars program)
--American with a nice scholarship
--Fordham (just applied there cause it was easy and thought I might get some money, but I didn't)
--GW (my attendance definitely rests on the financial aid, which I haven't received yet).
Sorry about your "luck" in the college process (it's really such a crapshoot sometimes). It will all work out, it seems like you're set for Emory (I hate saying that because I don't want to jinx myself!) so good luck!

Maybe I did set the bar too high but I attend an exclusive private school and my grades are great for that school. I thought my ECs were unique but.......I was rejected at Penn (ED Deferred/Rejected), Cornell, Brown, Northwestern, Georgetown. I'm waitlist at WashU (really want it), UVa, UNC and Tufts. I got a nice scholarship to Knox and Tulane. Still waiting on Whitman. I really want Emory.....I'm kinda scared.
