THANK you so much.

The only thing that concerns me is your unweighted gpa.

UCSC,UCD,UCSB-match
UCB-slight reach

I know. I’m kicking myself in the butt for it. But if I’m correct they do not calculate freshman year?

You’re correct on them only looking at 10-12 gpa. Being out of state will help you as well.

I think UCD, UCSD, and USCS are match if you improve your SAT score. However, I think UCB will be a mid-high reach because of your low gpa and SAT. my advice for testing is that you should focus on either ACT or SAT and do well on ONE of them. Don’t dilute your efforts. good luck :]

You may not have a 4.5 weighted UC GPA. Because you are OOS, I believe the UC’s only accredit AP classes that you have taken as honor level courses deserving of that extra point in the GPA. Luckily, your GPA is still around average or better weighted for the UC’s, and the rigor of your highschool should be accounted for. I say you have great chances for SC and SB, and fair chances at UCD/SD. UCB is highly unpredictable, and you never know if your the right applicant for them.

Your GPA and ACT/SAT Scores are a bit low, but your EC’s are great. UCB will be a bit of a reach, but you should be able to get into the others. good luck!

I don’t think you are calculating your UC GPA correctly–it seems way too high based on your unweighted GPA. UC’s only look at 10th and 11th grade (and only academic classes-- no PE, leadership, etc) when calculating GPA and to get a 5.0 instead of a 4.0 for an honors class, the class must be Pre approved by UC ( I’m sure OOS HS’s don’t apply for this). Is the 3.66 after junior year cumulative or just for junior year?

My GPA was calculated incorrectly! Silly me. Its around 3.9

That sounds more in line with your UW. You look good for all but Berkely. Berkeley is super competative and your GPA will hurt you. Check out UC Statfinder for more, although it only has stats through 2009. OOS students will have an easier time getting in (if you’re full pay) now.
