What are my chances SO FAR ? Without sat's taken or second semester gpa.

^Chances look good everywhere. UC’s don’t need letters of rec. Keep up the good work. You could start studying for the SAT’s because those are really important for UC’s. And make sure, when senior year comes, you write a good personal statement, this will help you get into UC berkeley and UCLA. Last point, take a rigorous schedule, senior year, its very important. Based on your AP trend from 10th-11th grade, you should take at least 4 ap’s if your schools offers 4 more for you to take. And you should take your SAT II’s in may or june, because most of them are based off junior year ap classes, so the material is still fresh in your mind. Possibly the Lit, US history, or Math II SAT II’s, you only 2 of them. Good luck, but remember your gpa is the most imortant thing, especially in junior year. Make sure those A’s are in AP classes. :)

Would i be able to get into UCSB with elc ? Because im top 2 % of my class and UCSB is my goal.

As I tell everyone applying to UCs, be aware that UCs have a very particular method for calculating GPA that most people aren’t aware about. Your ECs are more than enough and letters of rec are not nessecary.

For UCs, GPA and standardized tests matter more than ECs, which only come into play if you’re borderline. As for academic standards, the order from highest standards to lowest is generally considered to be
Cal > LA > SD > Davis > SB
with Cal/LA/SD all hovering around 4.3 GPA and 2100 SAT as general standards for acceptance. I’m not 100% sure about SB/Davis, but I’m pretty sure you meet the requirements so far.

As for right now, the most important thing is to focus on your SAT I (or ACT) and your GPA. I suggest you take the SAT/ACT before you finish junior year and take it again fall of senior year if you aren’t satisfied with your score. After this year SAT IIs are not required but **recommended/B.
