APs: 5 psych, 5 Calc AB, 5 Lang&comp, 4 APUSH (will take Econ, Euro, Span, Lit&comp, and Stats this year)</p>
<p>-Got a scholarship to spend 3 weeks in South Korea this summer as part of a cultural exchange aiming to maintain/improve US-South Korean diplomatic relations (starting in 2 weeks)
-Was selected through extensive interview process to represent my community as one of 4 Sister Cities student ambassadors to our town's sister city in Mexico and spent 3 weeks there last summer (stayed with host family, participated in cultural activities, spoke solely in spanish, helped "bridge the gap b/w 2 cultures and communities," yada yada)<br>
-Tennis team 9-11 (so far), JV captain 11
-Amnesty International Club 9-12, VP 12
-Model UN 10-12
-National Spanish Honor Society
-HS Honor Society (my high school doesn't do NHS, for whatever reason)
-Peer Jury 9-12 (selected to sit on a panel of teen jurors in community that determines the punishment for youth first-time offenders of misdemeanor crimes, as an alternative to going to juvenile court)</p>

Hostess at local Mexican restaurant (authentic Mexican food/Mexican owned)-another opportunity to practice spanish- starting spring 2010
Volunteered Local Daycare summers 2007, 2008, 2009 with primarily spanish-speaking children and had an amazing opportunity to better my spanish skills</p>

<p>In my essays, I plan to talk about my passion for international relations, and my dedication to pursuing every possible avenue related to IR thus far, as seen above (I also take 2 languages in school, Spanish and French, as well as have a conversational knowledge of German, and a limited knowledge of Korean). I plan to talk about how my international background has helped spark my interest in global affairs and how my experiences abroad have given me a broader world view. I hope to further cultivate my interests by majoring in IR in college. </p>
