When I originally posted (about two months ago, I think) several people who commented on my chances told me I was being unrealistic. I believe some of the comments they made were that I'd have to be "durned lucky" or "win the lottery" to get in to any of my schools.

So far I've gotten two letters, both of them acceptances.

I got into UConn, as was expected, but what I didn't expect was that I'd be invited into the Honors Program, which accounts only for 6% of the entire University population.

I also got into Brandeis (and received a merit scholarship).

I'm still waiting on the rest of my letters, but I'll be sure to post back when I get them.

That being said, I want to tell the people like me (who worry too much and need to be reassured) to relax. The people who comment on your posts with snide comments aren't on the admissions boards of schools... they're usually just 16 or 17 year old kids who get their "estimations" from the data they read on Collegeboard and Princeton Review. My GPA isn't perfect, and I'm not the valedictorian (like most people), but if you work hard and show them that you have passion, you will get into a great school. Numbers aren't all that matters. Some people get pleasure out of being mean (for assorted reasons that I won't go into), but just take what they say with a grain of salt. If you care enough about going to college to come on a website like this and have your chances sized up, you'll get into a decent school. The waiting to know is the part that drives you crazy. In a few weeks this will all be over, so relax until then, and good luck.
