<p>I don't think a GPA says much other than a rough categorisation... the full transcript and the coursework needs to be shown to make any sort of useful judgment. A 3.7 student may be more competitive than a 3.9 student depending on the coursework taken (even if both take "all APs").</p>

<p>Adcoms are professionals. They know the difference between GPA calculations, course rigor and other factors involved in a transcript. Coupled with essays, recs. and resumes, they hardly need our help when making decisions.</p>
<p>Haha, indeed! But in terms of (CC-based) advising, I think you can only really get a good picture if the OP posted his whole transcript so far.</p>
