Essays: Have not written any and pretty nervous about saying anything since I don't see many oppurtunites in my life that I have been extraordinary.

For the honors program for UT, there are several essays you have to write. I love to write, but I felt lazy so I didn’t bother since I didn’t think I would attend. Ironically, I am now waiting for my orientation to arrive and regret not applying, lol. If your writing is as impressive as your stats, you’ve got a chance.

Frankly, I thought Rice’s essay was pretty challenging to write when I was first applying. You have great stats which might abet you in the end, and I suggest you start to think of every experience you have had that has had an effect on you, as unorthodox as it might seem, for those impending essays. Make sure you have English teachers edit them, and get as much exposure to those essays in terms of editing as possible.

If you’re a student from Houston, that might be a negative aspect since A LOT of people apply to Rice from there. I don’t mean to bring you down, but I am just telling you.

You might receive some generous aid from A&M because of your stats. You definitely qualify for the Lechner’s Scholarship and the Presidential one from A&M. Same thing applies to UT for Presidential Scholarship.

I hope the best for you and let me know if you get into either Rice or UT Honors!
