Essays:
How my grandma, a woman who came from a remote Chinese village, played an essential role in shaping my personality and cultivating my aspiration toward literature and writing.
As the only daughter of a landlord back to China in the 1930s, grandma was the only female in the whole village who took education and became the first one in her class who entered college (during the period of chaos/wars). After graduated from university, she became a high school teacher… Under her influence, my mom chose her career as a journalist. Those two women gave me significant confidence in my journey of writing and study.
W&M Optional essay:
Start with the scenario that I ran cross country in W&M Invitational Meet. I strengthened the determination of applying W&M after I heard cheers from those volunteer students from W&M, which increased my admiration toward my dream school.
Then describe the reason that I came to a high school in Williamsburg is W&M. Holding the interest toward literature and history, I asked my history teacher about the prolong history behind Virginia and Jamestown before I transferred from a Chinese school to Williamsburg.
The last two passages expressed my desire to get a chance to study Liberal art in W&M. How can I contribute to the school with my merits?
