I am a junior. My unweighted gpa is a 3.5 weighted 3.9. Ive taken the SAT and scored but a 2300, but Im sure I can do better. I've taken four subject tests Math I,II, Bio E, and spanish and I've scored above a 760 in all . Looking at law or pre med. No financial boundaries. i am in the top 15% at my highschool .it is very rigourous and we are a blue ribbon school. (according to my guidance counselor) Colleges acknowledge that my school makes it exceptionally difficult for students to succeed, and i do follow an upward trend from freshman to sophomore and the trend shoots up to junior

Don’t retake the SAT, 2300 is a great score. 3.5 GPA likely won’t cut it for Penn/Cornell/Johns Hopkins but you’re e.cs are pretty nice along with volunteering, so you’ll definitely get into most of those schools. Good luck!

Where are you in state? I went off of OOS for all the states.

Everything seems fine. The GPA is decent, but the SAT is great! The Volunteer work and the ECS plus Leadership are in good shape. What exactly is La Casa Nueva Vida?

Hmm. If your school is a prep/known top feeder school, I don’t know how badly the GPA will ding you. Your SAT is perfect, really, 2300+ is the sweet spot. The difference between your GPA and 2300 makes it harder to predict safety/match, so here’s a conservative estimate:

Tufts low reach/high match
Vanderbilt low reach
Johns Hopkins reach
Cornell reach
Upenn reach
McGill rather fickle 'cuz of your GPA, put it as a low reach
U of Rochester match
Wustl reach
Ucb low reach (would you be full pay OOS?)
Bu match
Bc match
Umass Amherst low match/safety
University of virginia high match/low reach
Gwu match

Your volunteer work and ECs especially might be the deciding factor–they show a lot of good leadership qualities. Good luck in the ol’ College crapshoot!

Sorry for the late chance-back. I was doing SAT hw lol. I honestly think you have a shot at any of those schools. I keep hearing about more and more students on here getting accepted with “lower GPA’s” but higher SAT scores, though they all had a strength of some sort.

Your SAT scores are great! I would advise against retaking the 2300. Once you hit 2300, it all becomes a blur to colleges. I think your GPA is a tad low for some of the low reaches to be classified as matches. Your ECs are pretty good as well. I assume you are in charge of the two clubs which you helped start, which shows good leadership.

Here is what I think:

Tufts - Match
Vanderbilt - Low reach
Johns Hopkins - Low reach
Cornell - Reach
UPenn - Reach

U of Rochester - Match
WUStL - Low reach

Idk about the rest but good luck im sure youll get into a good number of these schools

Most crucial factor even before standardized test scores is your GPA. Your GPA is on the low side. I understand your school is very competitive but nonetheless colleges look at this the most. All other aspects of your application including your standardized test scores seem amazing especially since you consistently score high on the SAT and subject test. I didn’t see any mention of AP courses did you take them and that you get foor or fives on the exams? Volunteering in other EC’s are also good

That being said and always knowing that the Ivy League’s are low reaches for even the best candidates:

JHU is a low reach
Cornell is a low reach if u apply Ed.
UPenn is a reach (maybe a low reach if u apply ED)
The problem is, I don’t know how accurate your statement is regain the blue ribbon school (I am not saying u are wrong, I just don’t know!)
I cannot stress enough the importance of GPA over all else!

Strong volunteering and sat scores. But your GPa both weighted and unweighted seems relatively low, try to bring that up as a junior. Also you have time to build your resume, try to do research or something that will increase your chances at schools like tufts and cornell good luck :)
