Chance with low GPA and few EC's

I have almost no extracurriculars and I have a low GPA, but I want to get into a UC
I've got a low GPA of 3.4 unweighted
an SAT score of 2000
SATII Math2c: 610
SATII Bio: 640
SATII Chinese: 750

I have some hours at my church's sunday school for 2 years
and I volunteer to teach kids taekwondo at my studio for 3-4 years
and I've got a national medal in a sport

I've only taken 7 APs
I'm not sure if I can get into some UC's with my score. But I'm aiming for UC Davis and Irvine. Do I have a chance of getting in with my GPA and extracurriculars?

What is your UC GPA? Because if you’ve taken lots of APs (which you have), UCs will see that.

Also those ec’s aren’t too shabby. A national medal in a sport? That’s amazing.

I think my UC GPA would be much lower… it’s 3.27 unweighted. for grade 10-11

Really, a national medal in anything would look fantastic.

However, since quite a number of Chinese applicants (which I assume you are…?) apply to UC’s, you might be in for some tough competition.

Mostly low reaches to high matches, I’d say, for you.

ivychan – UC’s don’t use affirmative action. Everyone has the same “chance”, no matter what their race.

They don’t, you’re right, but I’d think that UC also don’t want an extraordinarily big group of Asian students on board…

UC’s are supposed to be “colorblind” during decisions.

That why there are a lot of asians at all the UC campuses.

Ah, touche XD

I concede~ :D
