I applied early decision to University of Richmond and was unfortunately deferred. What are my chances of getting in?

Overall GPA 3.3....

Freshman year: 2.9
Sophomore year: 3.34
Junior year: 3.7
Current senior GPA: 4.1

1870 SAT: Reading 620 Math 580 Writing 670

2 APs, 5 honors

Standard ECs, a decent amount of service

My dad also went to Richmond

I really hope so! Richmond is my dream school its difficult to picture myself anywhere else

college5775: Does UR gage interest? Stay in front of your admissions person. This is your first choice - make sure they (admissions office) know this! Good Luck!

Bates, good luck at getting in there. My college selection came down to Bates and UR. UR won out in the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Bates and my interactions with students, staff and faculty there.

also, after getting deferred, do you think it is better to send them a letter reaffirming that richmond is my top choice and so on as soon as possible, or later around mid February?

college5775 My advice is to write them a letter now. Have your father contact some influential alumni and have them write a letter for you. Keep admissions up on any positive academic achievements or community service projects you are participating in. This shouldn’t be a weekly dialogue but anything significiant - that will enhance your chances of admittance - should be communicated.
