Chance!

Hello hello. I am currently a Junior, living in San Diego county attending a highschool called San Dieguito Academy. I'm on spring break visiting colleges, and I am now sweaty palmed stroke level nervous about my chances in getting accepted in some universities. My ultimate goal would be to go to Brown, but I dont think my GPA/SAT/EC's and all that jive gives me the top chances.... And after reading the occasional story of someone with over 2000 SAT scores and a 4.8 getting rejected to places I thought I could easily get into I am very much afraid. Could someone give me an idea on how likely I could get into one of these schools? I am very worried, and am looking for some comfort, but dont be afraid to shoot me down. If you have any idea on any of these schools and their admission difficulty, any information or tips are very much appreciated.

(I'm also trying to narrow down the list)
Brown University
Cornell (another long shot)
Boston University
Boston College
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Stanford (longshot, but hopeful!)
New York University
University of Washington
CSU: San Luis Obispo
UC: Irvine
UC: Los Angeles
UC: Berkeley
UC: San Diego

I got a 1930 on my last SAT and I plan to take it again
Math: 730
Writing: 610
Reading: 600

I havent done any Subject tests, but I plan to do them
I did the ACT without essay once to see how it was, and I plan to do one with essay soon

My GPA is a bit low... but there are still 2 more quarters (my highschool does the quarter system) in which I can get a 4.75 each time. I'm signed up for 7/8 AP classes senior year, hopefully I can manage to get all A's in. Although my GPA is a bit low... my grades seem to gradually increase, getting a B in one quarter, and an A in the next.

9-12 GPA: 3.64/3.69
10-12 GPA: 3.77/3.86

This is my projection, and hopefully it'll turn true but by the end of Junior year I'm guessing to have around the same unweighted... but hovering around 4.0 weighted.

I'd really like to major in Japanese Language, and I am infatuated with Japanese Language and culture as a whole. I will finish AP Japanese this year.
I am in Japanese National Honor Society, and I plan to run for an officer position next year.
I am going to volunteer hopefully in something to do with the earthquake victims in Japan.

Any help in projected chances, tips, or even anything would be really appreciated. Anything to help ease the college weights off my shoulder is good too. Sorry for this being a bit lengthy, I just want every factor to play in to your opinions. THANK YOU!

It would be very helpful for you to research the 25th to 75th percentile SAT scores of your reach schools–that will give you an idea if you are in shot of admittance just on your scores. USNWR for 2011 is an excellent guide as it has all the stats.

For instance, Brown has range of 1320-1500 SAT for the 25th-75th percentile of admitted students. So, to feel somewhat comfortable, you’ll want 1400+ (just forget about the writing score). As you are now at 1330, you are near the bottom 25th. And many of the bottom quarter are “hooked” i.e., URMs, recruited athletes, legacies, and development (donor$$) cases.

You will want a 3.8-4.0 unweighted for top schools, and a top 10% (at least) rank. Find yourself some match schools you really love, and don’t obsess too much about your reaches. I’m sure you will find a wonderful college experience.

Thank you very much for your input. Much appreciated
