Chance!

As of right now this year I am in the top 15% of my class and just got in to English National Honor Society. I find out about Spanish National Honor Society this week but my teacher said I have really good chances. I am also waiting to hear on NHS. I am currently an IB Diploma student candidate. My school is funny with GPAs and I don't know mine but my semester averages in my classes were (IB classes this is unweighted):
89 in IB English HL
87 in IB History HL
83 in IB psychology SL
92 in pre calc
94 in IB Environmental SL
94 in IB Spanish HL
99 in music appreciation
91 in gym
My grades in most classes have been improving
At the end of my sophomore year my weighted GPA was a 90.1 but will go up a lot with my IB classes.
My sat scores are kind of low with a 550 in CR 620 in math and 570 in writing. I am retaking this month along with the act.
Currently I am in environmental club (10-11), future educators association (10-11, vp this year and was elected president for next year), council on human relations (10-11, has a weird system of leadership but I have been in a position every year), theater company (9), key club (10-11), been on 5 mission trips since the summer of 8th grade to west Virginia, new York, Vermont, and the Dominican republic twice, 4th and 5th grade youth group leader (9-11), Concordia youth chorale (7-11, basically have quit, have sung in places like Carnegie hall, Lincoln center, and st John the divine), vice president of the north Atlantic region for future educators association, summer of 9th grade helped at my churches summer music camp, volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house (11), peer tutor (11), orchestra (9-10). I know I do a lot, sorry!
I am a female from new jersey
Any advice or chances would be amazing!

I'm looking at bennington college, brown university, bryn mawr college, bucknell university, cedar crest college, chowan university, college of charleston, denison university, dickinson college, eastern university, elon university, emory university, endicott college, gettysburg college, gordon college, greensboro college, grove city college, heidelberg college, houghton college, james madison university, lehigh university, loyola university maryland, messiah college, miami university in oxford ohio, unc asheville, queens university of charlotte, ramapo college, roanoke college, rowan university, shippensburg university, skidmore college, sweet briar college, thiel college, virginia tech, university of delaware, university of virginia, washington and jefferson college, washington and lee university

Well I can tell you that for the Virginia schools, with those particular SAT scores you can immediately toss out Virginia Tech, University of Virginia and Washington and Lee from consideration. You might be in range for James Madison if you are in-state and you may also be in range for Roanoke. Your best shot in Virginia is Sweet Briar College.

The only thing keeping you back is your SAT scores, but considering your grades I’m sure there will be a vast improvement. If you are able to hit that 2000 buffer you could probably start to narrow down your potential schools and concentrate more on the upper tiered ones as your extracurriculars are pretty extensive. I also find acceptance scatter plots really useful and interesting. Luck!
**ps. Would love to hear you chance me, although be warned that my school offers next to none in ecs and course choices. :)

What about charleston? That’s my top school

Surely take the sat again and the act, but also check out fairtest.org. It lists all the colleges (and the list is growing) that treat standardized tests scores to be OPTIONAL. Many prominent schools are on this list. Good luck!

Bump please!

Bump bump!!

Bump please!!

HIGH REACH: brown university, bryn mawr college, university of virginia,

REACH: bucknell university, lehigh university, loyola university maryland, skidmore college, virginia tech, university of delaware, washington and lee university

MATCH: cedar crest college, college of charleston, dickinson college, gettysburg college, greensboro college, james madison university, miami university in oxford ohio, unc asheville,

I DON’T KNOW: bennington college, chowan university, denison university, eastern university, endicott college, gordon college, grove city college, heidelberg college, houghton college, messiah college, queens university of charlotte, ramapo college, roanoke college, rowan university, shippensburg university, sweet briar college, thiel college, washington and jefferson college

But do you plan to apply to all of these? Because that will cost you A LOT of money!

Maybe only ask for a chance for a few of your top choices, that way it will be easier for people to respond rather than them having to go through a hug list.

Insight into chances at any of these schools would be really appreciated

I got my final grades for the year and my weighted gpa is about a 97 and unweighted is about a 92.
