Chance?

As a typical angsty high school senior, I'm really worried about college admissions, particularly because of my low GPA. So I would like to gauge if I'm even a potential candidate for CMU. Thanks.

SAT I: Total 2200 [740R, 710M, 750W (11 on essay)]

SAT II: Chemistry (640), History (730), Math II (650), Biology (710) <--taken after freshman biology

GPA: 3.34 (UW 9-11)...I'm too lazy to calculate weighted but Chem Honors(A's both semester), Pre-Calculus Honors (B's both semester), AP Calculus BC (C's both semester), APUSH (C first semester, B second semester), APChem (C's both semester), American Literature Honors (B's both semester)

AP Tests: History (5), Chemistry (4), Calculus BC (4) AB subscore (5)

Senior Year Classes: AP Statistics, Spanish Honors, AP Literature, Physics Honors, Ap Gov/Econ (I most likely will get an A in everything but Lit)

State: California

School: Public (...in Cupertino)

Ethnicity: Indian

EC's:

Intended Major: Cognitive Science

Hook: female? apparently there aren't many girls at CMU, and i'm interested in joining the fashion magazine team.

Work on that GPA! But yup your all set.

*you’re, but thanks for the feeback…do you attend cmu?

I had almost the exact same stats (3.4 UW 2180 SAT) and you have better ECs and subj. tests, and I got in. My intended was Cog Sci too and I also got into CivE.

this is so so so comforting; i can’t even tell you how much so. how is cognitive science at cmu? how do you like cmu in general? i can’t even get across how comforting your post is.

I get relieve when I heard 3.4 is still a chance… cuz my English teacher this year is not a human… and I’m worrying to pull my 3.81 GPA to 3.79…

*you’re, really?

I think, as long as your senior grades are not highly divergent from your previous record, then the sliding from a 3.81 to a 3.79 won’t matter…Oh how I wish that my worry was a mere change from 3.81 to a 3.79.

Woops, I just saw your post. I love CMU as a whole, but I hate cog science so I’m planning to switch out.

u have a 1450…thats awesome. i have a 1370, and a 3.5 w/ like no ap’s and only one subject test. u shouldne rlly be worrying.

wait, there arent girls at CMU ?? wat? is that true?

@smmbvk why do you not like cogsci at cmu?
@delmonico due to the strong engineering programs, cmu has a high male population (or at least that is what i’ve heard…)
