Chance?

Hi there,

I just wanted to post a quick chance thread so I have a broad idea of what I need to work on in order for Pitt to make it onto my final decision list! I will be an OOS applicant (MA).My stats are as follows:

SAT (superscore after two attempts): 1870 ( 590 M, 600 CR, 680 W)
GPA: 3.96 (unweighted)
ECs: Student Leadership (secretary of class- will be 4 yrs)
Best Buddies (3 yrs)
Varsity XC, Indoor/Outdoor Track (will be 4 yrs- two year Captain for XC, soon to be Captain for Indoor and Outdoor)
Volunteer at Rehab Center affiliated with hospital (50+ hours at this point)
National Honor Society
Work at a running store

Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks a bunch!

I think you have an excellent chance - especially being OOS, however not for merit aid. Generally Pitt likes scores over 500 on each sections of the SAT - you mostly do and you have an excellent GPA (assuming you are taking challenging classes). Pitt places more emphasis on scores and grades than extracurricular.

You are in. Your SAT score and GPA are above average.

Keep up the good work and your as good as in. If your still nervous, join some more clubs and add on some more ECs and make sure to write a good essay on your application. Also, apply as early as possible.

I know I am unearthing this thread, but I thought I might as well given I have now taken the ACT and have a few more things to add- my real question at this point regards my chance for any merit money.
I took the ACT in June and scored a 28 composite ( 27 science, 26 math, 27 english, 32 reading, 8 essay).
I also received a Junior award at my school’s Senior Awards night- it was a book award and scholarship to a school in WV.
My volunteering has now exceeded 100 hours.

Given these additions, is there any chance I could receive merit money? I know the stats say ACT scores should be around a 32, but I am just asking out of general curiosity. Thank you!
