Chance

sr year is speculative, but i'm nearly sure confident i'll get a 4.0 (at min. a 3.9) sr year

white, male, resident, medium public average hs, top 50% class rank (if it's reported, idk)
3.2X Gpa at application, 3.3 after sr year

basically, bad grades until jr year

1st sem jr - 3.67 (about halfway through the semester i stopped the deleterious lifestyle i had the 3 years prior)
2nd semester jr- 4.0
1st semester sr - 4.0
2nd semester sr - 4.0

jr year schedule:
french 4th year, precalc, english (i'd gen-ed 1st semester and honors second semester; my counselors wouldn't let me transfer into ap language because of some BS "requirement"), psychology, ap us history, ap chemistry)
i was relegated from ap english after my sophomore-year apathy.

sr year schedule:
french 5th year, ap psychology, ap calculus ab, ap literature, ap physics 1, ap us gov/civic

ap scores:
chem-4
apush-5
psych-expecting 5
calc-expecting 3+
lit- expecting 5
physics- expecting 4
gov-expecting 5
i'll either be taking ap french or ap language. if i take french, i'll be expecting a 3+. if i take language, i'll get a 5.
sat:
currently practicing at ~2250, expecting 2300+ in october

ec:
the only thing i really did that i could put on my application prior to jr year would be soccer; i've played club soccer since 6th grade. i'll be playing varsity sr year. i didn't play school soccer 9th/10th because i wanted to focus on club, and i didn't play it jr year because of an ankle sprain.

-jr year i started playing guitar (does this even matter?)

-started volunteering last month - will continue throughout sr year

-will join that club at school that helps you find more places to help out in community.

essay:
i can write, at min., a good essay. i'm not sure it will be "amazing," though.

precis:
very high sat
bad accumulative, very strong upward trend
lacking ec's
rigorous? courses
essay will certainly be above average, but nothing phenomenal

so, do you think i have any notable chance?

Since everything is so speculative (as in your test scores) I’m not sure if people can give you a yes or no.

I would really really really REALLY focus on your essays. If you can, find someone to help you/edit it if you’re not 100% confident with your skills.

I got into UW with a 3.96 GPA, 9 AP classes, average SAT scores (I don’t test well), and loads of extra curricular’s/volunteering.

I think you have as good of a chance as anybody. UW (in my experience) isn’t a college that admits/denies based on a specific formula.

However, I was the only senior from my High School to get in for the class of 2018… At A&O, we were told there were 31,000 applicants for this year. The freshman class this year is 6,600.

Your impressive grades and change in direction in high school shows good determination. UW loves that.

Good Luck

:)>-

Thank you  worth a shot ;p and i should clarify … i can write a strong essay. i just wanted to express that my essay likely won’t be “extraordinarily amazing” or the “best essay you’ll ever read” - the type of thing i see people write on this site.

I’d advise you write your essays on how you were able to turn everything around, and how you managed to overcome the “deletetrious lifestyle” you spoke of. It’s a very powerful experience I’m sure, and it will also account for your lower grades early on.

Oh! I understand what you mean. I’m sure you’ll do great! Do you have an intended major?? Sometimes writing about that in your essays can strengthen your case for UW. It did for me at least!
