Son is getting fatigued/stressed by the wait, especially with peers making final decisions on colleges everyday. Got into several good programs, but I would like him to hold on until he hears from others, including Colgate. So, I can feel better about dragging the process on for him, anyone with realistic insight on the following:
GPA: 3.68 unweighted; 4.68 weighted
ACT: 31
AP Scholar
Florida Boys State (Am. Legion) delegate
Officer of Model UN, National Honor Society (responsible for peer tutoring program) and Best Buddies
Afterschool tutoring at local Title I Elementary School
2 seasons varsity wrestling; 1 season varsity rugby
Thanks.
@csb5150 I feel ya. I don’t have an answer on if he’ll get in–2 years ago my D with similar stats (32 ACT) was waitlisted. I feel if she’d shown interest she would have had a better chance of getting in. But she was too exhausted to show interest to any more schools beyond the application.
I guess I would let him own his own process. If he has a clear favorite, let him have it, and just listen to him gush about it, heck, buy the sweatshirt, but make a rule of “No deposits until May 1” or something like that, which is fair. You never know how their desires change once all the decisions and costs are in. My older D went from not wanting her school at all to it being her first choice. Turns out not wanting it was a defense mechanism because she didn’t think she’d get in, but once she did, she cried. These months are a roller coaster of emotions.
With my younger D, who also applied to Colgate this year, I can hardly get her to be interested in the accepted students days. She was deferred by her ED and EA top-choice schools. She’s just so done with it all.
Hang in there.
