Okay..I've taken my first ACT practice test in the Real ACT Prep Guide book and I scored:
English-28
Math-29
Reading-27
Science-28
Composite-29

Although it's not good enough, I'm wondering if this score (if it's "official" score) would get me into any of these colleges (considering I have decent ECs, work experiences, recommendation letters, and UW GPA of 3.65):
-U of Wisconsin
-U of Washington
-UIUC
-Boston U
-Purdue U
-Penn State
-Northeastern U
-Indiana U

I know there will be some reaches, but what can I improve to raise my chance? Thanks in advance!

-U of Wisconsin: Match
-U of Washington: Match
-UIUC: Match
-Boston U: Match
-Purdue U: Match/slight reach
-Penn State: Safety/Match
-Northeastern U: Match
-Indiana U: match

Your ACT score is actually pretty good; with good EC's, essays, and recs, you probably will be able to get into nearly any decent school (just not top tier/ivy league caliber). I suggest that you take the SAT as well, to see if you do better at that test in comparison. Also try to raise your GPA and ranking, if possible. Good luck!

Thanks for your feedback. I actually have taken SAT test once and I'm planning to retake it as well as my first ACT. But, I want to try taking ACT so that I have the option to choose which score I want to send. So 29 is not bad, huh? But if I want to aim for top tier schools, which score do I need? (32-36?)

Also, do I need to take SATIIs for my schools listed above? Or will ACT test cover that?

My first SAT test score is: 530V 640M 620W. I know I need to do better on my retake. But will getting 29 on ACT improve my chance to the schools above?

You'll get into all of the schools. I had a 3.63 and a 29 ACT and got into Wisconsin, which is the hardest of the schools listed to get into. Just make sure you include recommendation letters to all the schools, even if they don't require them.
