bump

and does any one have any recommendations for the SAT IIs?

ive been hearing from some ppl that SAT II Math is required for some colleges, although ive always assumed that they're mandatory for only math/engineering schools.

however, i took a practice test and did absolutely rubbish on it.

as of now, im taking US history (or is world better?), literature, and french

but my parents say this is way too humanities oriented and suggested i should at least take bio

but since im interested in IR/econ/polisci/pre-law, is it really necessary?

thanks before hand

Haha, my college list is EXACTLY like yours and I'm in the IR/pol.science/econ boat as well. Although, my stats are not nearly as impressive as yours.

I would suggest that you do take Math IIC because so many colleges do require it, even if you aren't heading into a math/science concentrated field. Also, I believe that the UC's require a Math subject test. To complement that subject test, since most colleges require 2, I'm adding a history or lit( whichever one I score best on). The general rule of thumb is to have one math/science and one from the humanities. Because on any general SAT day, you can take up to 3, you might as well take all the ones you want to, just to field the waters and then have larger reign when it comes time to submit SAT II subject tests. That way, for colleges that don't require Math, they can look at your highest two indiscriminately( which may be Bio and Lit, for example).

hmmmmmmmmm

if its math/science, im inherently stronger in bio

i guess ill just take US or world/lit/french this june and then take math II in october just in case

240 views and only 4 posts?

heelllllllp me

actually im just freaking out cuz of finals/sat iis/crazy stupid teachers/the enticingly close and approaching FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bump?

weeeeeee

"Volunteer Hours:
Countless...lol. I'm busy as an officer. But an estimate= 150+"

Since when does being a club officer count as volunteer hours. Nice try...

well i dunno if your imagining that im just busy doing administrative busy work, but the clubs that i am a part of are (like interact and science alliance)...lo and behold....are volunteer organizations where you help/educate people and raise money for important causes.

does being an officer necessarily exclude you from being a volunteer?

^ I think these can really only be counted as leadership hours. Volunteer hours would need to be logged, document with signatures, etc.
Double check with your GC about this.

sigh, my guidance counselor doesnt know anything

:(

my freshman counselor retired, my sophomore one quit/was fired, and this year, i have 2 different ones. depending on the day i sign up for a meeting/am called in, i get a different one. none of them really know what they're talking about and really can only the average student with their advice.

only the head counselor knows anything, and she is deluged with students. most of them are referred to their assigned counselors...

blaargh

any other advice?
