Chance

I won't flip out because stressing these days doesn't get anyone anywhere. I think it's really frustrating when people say they have "poor" grades when they actually have a 3.95 GPA and a 2200 on the SATs and a 750 on their SAT IIs it's and a hundred different extra curricular activities ( I apologize for the run on). I think it's aggravating because these people can get into great schools. I unfortunately don't have the 3.95 or 2200 on the SATs. I come here to ask a simple question that will maybe have an answer.

Colleges don't have enough time to hangout with a person and determine whether the person is Ivy material or not. Colleges have to look at a piece of paper that shows a GPA and a SAT score. If your academically inclined you're likely to get in. I go to a public school that is a little more difficult to perform well in. I go to a school where everyone is competing to be the best. Every year 20/500 people go to an Ivy league and about 150 go to upper level schools like NYU, Carnegie Mellon, etc. The rest of my class attends Rutgers, that would be the portion that cares. The lazy portion attends a county college and the drop out rate is about 5/500. So now what's my problem?

I'm an Asian girl that comes from a smart family, but I'm not your typical Asian girl. I am an average kid from NJ who is worried about getting rejected from Rutgers New Brunswick. My GPA is a 3.27 and I scored a 1800 on my SATs I plan on taking it again this October, but I need a miracle for a 300 point leap, yes I do study everyday. My concern is what if I don't hit the 2100? Where will my 3.27 GPA take me?

Extra- Curricular: I hear that extra-curricular is good, but it doesn't mean anything if your grades aren't all that wonderful. I've hosted 5 walks for a cancer foundation and I've also committed a 150 hours of community service. I also held a concert with a school nearby for Darfur. Does any of this matter if I don't have the a good GPA.

Confession: I have nightmares about attending a college I have never heard of or can't pronounce. What do my chances at Rutgers NB look like?

Is the 3.27 weighted? Also are you in-state (New Jersey I assume)?

you'll get in. if you want the extra security, try to get 1250+ on math and cr combined (rutgers doesn't look at the writing section yet)

3.27 weighed.

I'm sure you'll get in, and you'll be fine, but if you raise your SAT score to say 1900 and if you're instate, then you don't have to worry at all :)
