Chance!

I know this really isn't going to help me in any way now because my app's already sent in, but I'm kind of curious. I'm not really counting on acceptance, but if there's anyone out there who has some spare time, feel free to give your opinion. I'm not a legacy, or anything fancy-shmancy like that.

My school is an all girls Catholic school and, because it's small, doesn't have a whole lot of advanced classes. I'm taking all AP/Honors levels they offer this year (with the exception of AP Studio Art and the language classes because I'm not that advanced) and have only missed a couple over the four years I have attended. (I tried to maintain a life during high school and not drive myself crazy with work. I admire those who were successful while taking every advanced class... you guys are kind of amazing.)

EC's:

So.... what do you think? I'm applying to the School of Foreign Service. GU is definitely my reach school. Honestly, I'm trying to prepare myself for rejection because admissions is such a crapshoot, but I'd love to go here.

You’re right. GU is a reach school for you. Your accomplishments and success are clear and impressive, but the problem is that they are a dime a dozen at GU. The question will be whether something in your application really intrigues them. You might well get in; you are qualified; but given all the comparably qualified candidates and the limits on how many they can admit, it’s a reach.
Good luck!

i would say low reach. you have really good, competitive stats though so don’t lose hope! you definitely have a chance.

Thanks, WCAS and Featherz! I appreciate your honesty. :)

Featherz–just out of curiosity, when you say low reach do you mean it’s more of a reach or less? Thanks for the encouragement :)

i believe flyingfeatherz means is less of a reach. since the decision process is such a crapshoot you never really know, but i got in early action with lower stats than you. my ec’s were strong, but i also applied to msb so that could have had an impact. overall you seem like a well rounded applicant. you definitely have a fighting chance. good luck!

Thanks! I didn’t get in, which is disappointing, but I got letters from other places today with better news! I’m not heatbroken. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Congratulations, though! GU is such a good school–I’m sure it’s going to be a great experience for you. :)
