Chancellor Gee

It’s official. Chancellor Gordon Gee sent us all e-mails today announcing that he is leaving his post at Vanderbilt University in order to become President (again) of OSU.

We’re all really sad about it, but you’re inheriting a GREAT leader.

I know the campus community is buzzing at the return of President Gee. I'm extremely excited to have him back!

i wonder if he truly wants to support the athletic programs.

I have no doubt that he does. He was an avid supporter of OSU athletics when he was here.

Vanderbilt was much different than OSU. At Vanderbilt, sports was just something else that was draining money, and it was in shambles, so Gee felt that by putting it under his umbrella, he could more readily have a personal touch in what was going on.

At OSU, we have the biggest athletics department in the nation. It's completely self-supporting and brings in literally millions and millions of dollars to our University. He won't touch it.
