Chancellor’s Scholarship Weekend

I am hoping tomorrow or Monday. Tcu went on spring break today, so it could be two weeks if it didn’t get mailed out this week. ? Our Fed Ex comes separate from the US mail. We usually get it in evenings where we live. We have also gotten items requiring a signature in the late morning from Fed Ex before.

@milcurtis Could you post on here when you receive your Chancellor’s letter? Since you are close, it would give the out-of-state people an idea of when to expect the letters!

Yes, I plan to post if we get an envelope. My daughter is out of town this weekend, and she instructed me not to open it until she is home. But so far, no envelope. So if I do post, I still may not know our results.

I have a frustrating update. Last week, I signed up for fed ex delivery tracker for my daughter. I had to wait for a code to arrive to check. The code arrived today. Fed ex delivery shows a TCU letter to ship To my daughter on 3/13 and arrive here 3/17. So we have a bit of a wait yet, I think.

@milcurtis that’s disappointing that we might have to wait that long. Why would it be shipping over their spring break though?

I know from a TCU instagram post that their spring break is this coming Mon 3/9-through Friday3-13. My fed ex tracker with kiddos name to our home said label created. Envelope to ship from Texas Christian University 3/13 and arrive at our home address 3/17. That is all the info I have. I honestly did not expect to get even that much info from fed ex tracking. It took five or more days for the activation code to arrive from Fed ex, but I am glad we did it. She is supposed to get email updates from Fed Ex. I have no idea what that will entail. I will update if I learn anything else.

@milcurtis thanks for the info!

@milcurtis did you get any notification about the package sending?

Daughter just got email that said Tuesday

Updated on frog portal.

Chancellors!! Yes !!!

I just got the Chancellors! Thanks @SuperfrogFan for your help!

Got the good news as well!

Yes, package sent out today at 5. Then we got an email with news in portal and my dd got chancellors!

I didn’t get the chancellors scholarship. But I did receive the Provosts scholarship which is 40,000 a year.

Congratulations everybody!!! Some great news in the midst of the pandemic

For students and parents in future years, it does seem that most of this is decided from the interviews and not only the statistics, so there is a subjective component. On Mar 3, the delivery tracker I took out only helped me to see the envelope a week before it shipped. When the envelope was actually was picked up today on Mar. 13, the delivery tracker notified her, but TCU also sent her a delivery tracker type notice with the exact same information that I think she would have gotten no matter what. Then, approximately ten minutes later, an update with the scholarship letter was posted to the TCU portal. The financial letter information is still unchanged. I have heard that that part updates later. Some deferred students also got told that they were accepted today. I think other regular decision students were also admitted today. I have not yet heard of anyone being told about the trustee’s scholarship in this same letter, so I do not yet know if those five people were also told news. Based upon an unrelated letter we received, it is possible that the physical envelopes will arrive on Sat Mar. 14, pi day, rather than the estimated St. Patrick’s day. I think that the coronavirus situation escalated after these decisions were already printed and in the envelopes, so it may not have affected the timing of the chancellors news. I hope this helps, and good luck and good skill! It is clear that anyone who made it to chancellor’s scholar finalist is a top candidate and has reason to be proud of their hard work regardless of the outcome of this news.

Question for you folks. My D21 is interested in TCU. When I put in her stats 4.0UW and 34ACT into NPC it stated that she would get 49K scholarship. On TCU website it indicates that 4.0 and 34 ACT would qualify for Chancellor or full tuition.

Based on this thread it looks like those numbers only get you an invite to compete for the Chancellors. Does everyone that have those numbers or better get invited to chancellors or are those numbers the minimum criteria needed to be able to invited.

Are there any stats on how many who go to the weekend actually get the Chancellors. Thanks for any information you can give me.

@burghdad Congrats to your D for her hard work! Those are typically considered minimum requirements to be invited to interview for the Chancellor’s Scholarship. A lot of the invite also depends on essay quality and overall well-roundedness of the applicant. TCU is looking for a diverse group of scholars that will add to the school community.

There are usually ~120 applicants invited to Chancellor’s Scholars Weekend, and about half of those will be offered the scholarship. Let me know if you have other questions about the Horned Frog fam!

@SuperfrogFan What he said sounds about right. Your D stands a good chance she sounds super smart ! good luck!

Hello, everyone! I have been accepted as a finalist for TCU’s Chancellor’s scholarship this year and will head to campus on Febuary 10th for the interview and all. I was wondering if any of you had some more information on what the interview actually looks like or would be willing to provide some tips for it. I thought I read that the interview is split into two meetings, one maybe with a panel? If y’all could give me some insight into what the whole process looks like and how I should prepare for the weekend that would be great. Thanks
