Ok, thanks @carachel2 !
@Cavemom, The financial aid letter and Chancellor’s Scholarship process are not connected. Stay tuned and best of luck!

Just wanted to throw this out so the urban legend/myth doesn’t continue to get propagated on CC anymore.
It appears that many years ago, the original dean of the Honors College extended full tuition to those who interviewed for but who did not receive the Chancellor’s scholarship. Throughout the years, many interviewees have made note of this and were hopeful for a bump in their original merit scholarship offer from say…$15 or 20K bumped up to full tuition. But I can’t find any specifics or continued pattern in this.
I’ve messaged at least two recent (since 2014 anyway) Chancellor’s interviewees who did not receive the award. They each report their initial merit offer was not increased.
If anyone has information that states otherwise, it would be awesome and I would be more than happy to be wrong!?? Anyone??
Again…good luck to everyone. D is booked for her interview. I will admit the travel costs are indeed a painful amount we did not budget into the application process…but of course it will be money well spent if the lottery pays off and she is awarded the scholarship! And she is happy to have another day or two back at Pitt.
Got the thanks but no thanks letter today
Been expecting the same letter as my D hasn’t received anything yet. I’m guessing she’s on some virtual wait list and if they don’t hit a target number of finalist once they evaluate everyone they might give her an interview.
@Dolemite, has she been checking her email, including spam filter?
@mommdc Yes - nothing. If you log into her Chancellor’s Portal it says:
All materials received
Being Reviewed
Anyone that has an interview see anything different? Anyone that has received a letter see anything different?
@Dolemite I have received an interview, and mine still says Being Reviewed.
Still haven’t received anything! I’m so worried
I think no news is still possibly good news.
@shooting4stars --in past years, candidates were notified in waves throughout Feb and into March! No news is good news!
Should I just assume I got rejected? Pitt emailed me a confirmation that all my materials were received on Jan 13th. I thought they made decisions after 2-4 weeks after they receive all of your materials? Applied during the first week of January, if it matters. I haven’t heard anything back; the wait is killing me
@neuroscience19 You most definitely should not assume you got rejected. It was definitely longer than 4 weeks for me, and I have an interview next week.
Relax and watch your email and your mailbox. I don’t think anything is safe to assume at this point.
My D got an invite for Chancellor’s interview just a couple of days ago. She got her confirmation email on 12/15

Do you know if the process for selecting Chancellor Scholarship candidates has closed? My son meets the minimum requirements, completed the short answers on the application, and was accepted into the Honors College in Mid-September, but has not received any notification that he was considered. Do you think it’s worth reaching out to the admissions office to see if they will consider him? He just sent his mid-year grades with a 4.96/4.0. Thank you!
@opallady, The process for selecting and nominating Chancellor’s Scholarship candidates is now closed. At this point, the University Honors College is in the process of interviewing any nominees they select for the next phase.

So it is true that since I haven’t gotten an email, I’m just waiting for my rejection in the mail?
@neuroscience19, It depends on what you are referring to.
We send letters offering institutional scholarships up until March 1 to any who are selected to receive a scholarship. We do not send a letter or email to those who were automatically reviewed but not selected for institutional scholarships.
If someone has been nominated for the Chancellor’s, Stamps, or Nordenberg Scholarships, we will notify you if you have not advanced to the next stage of the scholarship review process.
Hope that helps clarify!

So why haven’t I received any rejection emails for Chancellor’s yet if the review process is done? @hailtopitt1787
@shooting4stars, As I mentioned, if you have been nominated, you will still hear something. They are in the process of reviewing nominees. The review process is only complete for the first phase (Admissions sending nominees to the Honors College). We do not contact someone if they are not nominated for the first phase at all. If you have been nominated for the first phase, the Honors College does plan to contact you to let you know either way. They will tell you if you are invited to an interview or if you are no longer being considered for the scholarship.
Hope that makes sense!
