Hey,

Did anyone else get the chancellor scholarship application and med school interview notification yet?

I did this week and they told me that I got a full tuition scholarship!!!

My D too! The med school notification came yesterday, and the full tiotion honors scholarship w/ nomination for Chancellor's came today! It's a happy day in our house!

When did you guys send in your applications/when did you receive your acceptance letters?

Congratulations! Did the scholarship info come with the honors college "official" invitation or was it separate?

D sent in her app around Oct. 6th. She received her acceptance about two weeks later, around the 20th, which included her homors college nomination. She emailed her essay and resume for merit last weekend; receipt confirmed via email on monday the 30th. On friday the 3rd she got a letter congratulating her on her scholarship and telling her she was a candidate for guaranteed med school program. We were unclear as to what this meant since we had no scholarship award. And then yesterday, Sat the 4th, she got the good news!

Good luck to all those in the running!

I had a very similar timeline to that.

However, I didnt send in my essays/extracurriculars yet, so I was surprised to get a full tuition scholarship so early.

That is great news for those getting word so soon! A little motivation for us with seniors who are still completing the applications! Can you give us more reason to move this process along by sharing your academic profiles? No need to list every EC but enough so we know if we have any hope for scholarships. Full tuition would be very sweet for an OOS. Again, congratulations!

My D got a full tuition honors scholarship with a chance at the Chanellor's,too. She also has an interview for guaranteed grad school acceptance in the school of nursing. We are soooooo happy!!! We couldn't have afforded the OOS tuition otherwise.

If you would like her stats they are as follows:
SAT 2200
Rank 10/475
GPA: 4.0 UW
ECs: Drama club (president this year, treasurer last year), NHS, Latin Club, Very competitive show choir for 6 years, stage manager of many school plays, freshman mentor, peer tutor, has a part time job and is a National Merit Semi Finalist.

I wish everyone good luck. This has been a very stressful wait. Pitt is D #1 choice so now I can breathe easier. Thanks to everyone that I've pestered for information regarding Pitt in general and scholarships. You made the wait easier.

CONGRATS TO YOUR DAUGHTER, stowmom! :) That is really a great accomplishment and I'm sure she will be delighted with Pitt's nursing school.

Yes, let me add MORE congrats to your daughter! It appears that you both now can have a relaxed senior year!

Thanks, chrisd. I am definitely breathing easier right now. I can't believe she knows where she is going and it's only mid November! Just get me through the rest of her senior year and I won't have to do it again for 5 more years!

Good luck! My d gained an early admission to the nursing program and it certainly takes the pressure off. Congrats to your d!

First of all, congratulations to all that were accepted. Secondly, cc77cc77cc, when are you interviewing for the med school program?

They told me to call again in January to schedule my interview.

My D just got a letter offering her a full tuition scholarship and inviting her to apply for a chancellor's scholarship, which would add room, board and money for study abroad. I have a question about the essay mentioned for the chancellor award. She submitted an essay with her original application since it said that was a requirement if you wanted to be considered for a merit scholarship. Are they looking for a second essay, or has she already given them what they want?

Call them and ask. Last year I don't remember D doing an essay for Pitt other than the one for the Chancellor's scholarship. Maybe it's changed this year. As I recall, there may have been some parameters for the Chancellor's essay, so the one she wrote might not be the best one for being considered for the bigger award. Check and see.

Is this a BS/MD program? Is is too late to apply?

No, they are not looking for a second essay, but she has to resubmit the first essay (assuming it fits the prompt). PM me for more details if you like.
