UC GPA: 4.45, unweighted: 3.95, no class rank, 30 ACT (with 34 in math), 760 math II subject test, applying as computer engineering.

Also received mine in the mail today.

I also received one in the mail today. I cannot go because I will be gone for a school trip. Do any of you know if my parents can go in my place instead?

Received one today as well, but I don’t know if I should get my hopes up or not!

Also, is it worth going to? Because the closest one to me is almost a 2 hour drive away.

Truly, if you have received this invitation, you will have an offer of admission from UCSB. My son got this invitation last year and we went to the reception in San Jose. At the reception the President congratulated all the kids and told them they will receive an email notification of acceptance in a few weeks. Some people had ribbons affixed to their nametags because they were offered merit scholarships. All invitees were told they were eligible for the Honors Program. It is a way to generate enthusiasm and interest among the top admits. Ultimately my son chose to attend another university, but the reception was a nice event. We drove a couple of hours to get there. In my opinion, it was worth it. Go if you can, but if you can’t, it will not affect any outcomes.

so for the people who have received the letter in the mail today or yesterday have you gotten email notification yet or not?

My son received his letter in the mail today. He never received an email. His portal had not had his email address, which is strange because he entered it on his UC application. So, he entered his email address today.

I got the snail mail letter.
I didn’t get an email AHAH probably because I never set up my account.
My stats:
2260 Sat, 3.7 GPA, 4.25 unweighted
YAY FIRST COLLEGE I GOT INTO

Received one yesterday via snail mail as well. Since it’s less than 20 minutes away from me, I’ll probably be attending. If it’s true this means that we’re automatically accepted than im pretty happy as this would be my first “unofficial” acceptance. In case anyones wondering my stats are nearly identical to prodigyy11’s (31ACT, 3.75UW, 4.17W)

“Since the UC system can’t release official acceptances until mid-march”

Daughter received her acceptance from UCI a few weeks ago, so I do not believe this is true.

@CountMonteCristo

I think he meant “normal” acceptance decisions. UC Irvine seems to has only released its decisions to the honor applicants.

I got one in the mail too. No email or anything.
Stats: 4.22 UC GPA; 3.93 UW. 33 ACT 2260 SAT

Im going to the one in LA

2110 sat
4.5 uc gpa
Top 9% thing

So does this mean that we r all in the honors program?

“If you are a fall-term freshman applicant, each campus you applied to during the filing period generally will notify you whether you have been admitted between March 1-31” (from the UC website)

I think Labyrinthus is right, normal decisions are released in March. I know others who have been accepted to UCs already but they have all gotten scholarships of some sort along with the acceptance.

I’ll be going to the one in LA, also (:

ACT: 31
W GPA: 4.31 (idk my UC GPA)
Class Rank: 2

“Admission decisions are due to be presented on this UCSB application status website during the week of March 19, 2012. A precise day and time will be listed on this website closer to that date.”

Soo, I’m guessing the SJ, Chicago, and Denver receptions won’t necessarily be surprises, considering admissions decisions will (most likely) be released before then.

I’m going to the March 24th reception, and I think that March 21st is the date that they send out admissions decisions. Will someone who is going to an earlier one please leave a post and describe what it was like? (I’m mostly asking whether or not they tell you that you’re in)

^ I got an email that said Freshman decisions are out Monday, March 19th. So, you should already know if you are in or not by that point.

The one I’m going to is on March 10. I’ll make sure to post afterwards (:

does anyone know if the chancellor’s reception only for freshman applicants? or are transfers included too?

i just got one today! anyone going to the NY one? :)
