Chancellor's reception invite

OOS (NY) Chancellor’s invite arrived on Saturday
ACT 33
UW GPA 3.7
UC GPA ~4.2
9 APs + lots of dual credit

I suppose the invite is a good thing.

@10s4life I didn’t get any emails, just the snail-mail invitation

@crossovercuber I have a friend there who got hers Saturday

my sister got it on the 13th!
Her stats: 3.9 GPA, 1510 SAT and AP Credit, tons of EC though
it all varies by region of applicants

For those who got it, are there any changes to your portal?

@crossovercuber Mine has not changed

@crossovercuber I don’t think the portals would change because technically we haven’t been accepted yet. Of course, I could be wrong lol

Did any Santa Barbara County locals get any?

Need help: I got the invitation and am very excited but just remembered that when I filled out an application I planned to take American Experience class in my second semester senior year. I ended up not enrolling in that class. What should I do? Is it going to be a big deal?

@Natrad as long as that’s not an A-G course, you should fine

@Natrad call admissions though. It won’t be a big deal, but you should get your application updated so there are no surprises for them this summer when they check your final transcript

I got the invitation on Saturday, but don’t think I will be able to attend. I honestly did not think I was a “top applicant” with a 1900 SAT and 3.87 W GPA for mechanical engineering… I live in the Inland Empire, which is in Cali, but are all Cali recipients of the letter guaranteed admission, or is admission only guaranteed for those that actually attend?

@FallenAngel58 If you got the letter you’re in.

@FallenAngel58 The two dates for the SoCal area receptions are only a couple of days before the actual results are released, so either way, it’s only a few hours of extra waiting. But yes, the letter (at least in California) means an acceptance!

@FallenAngel58 My son went last year and basically it is a nice introduction to the school and at the end, they let everyone know they have been accepted. If you can’t attend you are ok. You will get an acceptance letter later.

That’s a relief, glad to be accepted then!
Thank you everyone for your responses

@ginnygin Was your son offered admission to any other UC campuses? Just wondering if the reception is for students who are only offered admission at UCSB and no other campuses.

i know several people who have gotten into other UCs while getting the Chancellor’s Reception. @4paleo
Receiving the Chancellor’s Reception invite does not mean you haven’t been admitted to other UCs

I saw on another thread that there was a VIP tour of UCSD and a reception. Apparently, there isn’t a similar event for the other UC campuses. I’m curious why just UCSB and UCSD are the only UC campuses that have this reception. I think Berkeley has something for Regent scholars.

hi i just got this and I am an OOS student from connecticut. what does this mean? does this mean i’m definitely accepted???!?!
