Chancellor's Reception Invites

Does anybody know the timeframe when the Chancellor’s Reception invites go out? Couldn’t find any info from previous years. End of Feb? Beginning of March?

End of Feb. If I remember correctly, it was around Feb 25-27 last year. No Cal got their invites a few days before So Cal. Also, a couple of days before that, UCI accepted students into their honors program. No e-mail just a big “Congratulations” when you log onto the UCI portal.

@lkg4answers - thank you.

@collegefind1234 I looked at some old emails and our son got the UCSB invite on Feb. 18th last year. UCI honors came out about the 15th. UCSB Regents came in the mail on Feb 25th.

@youcee - thank you so much!

@youcee thanks for the information

@youcee Did the invitation come in the mail or email? Thanks for the info!

@JessicaF I don’t remember exactly, but I think an invitation came via regular mail.

In the past, just because you didn’t get a Chancellor’s Reception invite doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance at Regents. That happened with one of our kids.

@youcee thanks! My son won’t have a chance at Regents though because we are out of state.

D just got a Chancellor’s Reception invite. Is this a good sign for admissions? D is OOS so we don’t know the ins and outs of this. Thanks.

I received my invite last night via snail mail. I will absolutely be attending the reception in NYC on March 4th. It’s my understanding that if you get this invite, you are basically assured to be accepted. Guess we will find out more at the event. Go Gauchos!

@ViolaMom12 and @Zumanyx1 what states are you from?

D is from NY. The invitation listed all the receptions.

Thanks- My son was told by an admissions counselor that they only consider inviting applicants from around the reception locations so I was curious. We are in Florida but he’d give anything to get invited though.

What are the requirements to be considered for Regents?

Got it: “typically the top 2%” of admitted freshman.

@winjammer UCSB has one of the best Regents scholarships in the UC system. $6000/year (2nd only to Davis), priority scheduling, and 1st pass during housing sign ups after freshman year. The priority scheduling and housing can be real stress relievers. The requirement to not have 2 quarters in a row under a 3.2 GPA can add a bit of stress however. General stats of kids that we know got Regents there: 1550/2300+ SAT, 800 Math II SAT, around 4.4 UC GPA, 4.0 unweighted during soph and junior years of HS (what UC looks at).

@youcee: Thanks…

I am from Connecticut. Know of one other girl from nearby who was invited as well. My stats: SAT 1540, 4.0/4/0 UW, 6 AP Classes, National Merit Society. Good luck to everyone!!

Just got my chancellor invite! hoping this means I potentially got regents but I have no idea! Congrats to everyone else who got it hope to see you there:) I’m in state (northern California)
