Chancellor's Reception!

I got a letter in mail for Chancellor's reception. It invites me to go to a hotel for the reception. Does anyone know what this means? Does It mean that I'm already in the accepted pool?
What If I can't go to the reception, would they take my admission away?

It probably means you've been accepted. If you go to the website, it says, "
This reception is designed to be a celebration of your hard work over the last few years and an opportunity for you to get a better sense of what UC Santa Cruz could offer you."

Jealous, VERY jealous -- congrats!!! Is it being held in Northern or Southern Cal?

The letter I got says it's at Concord (Northern CA), but I'm not sure whether there's another one in Southern Cal.

Did anyone not get the chancellor's reception invite? I was just wondering whether it was sent to everyone and whether it actually suggests acceptance?

my d did not get this...congrats!
what are your basic stats?

GPA: 3.67
SAT Reasoning: CR-560, W-570, M-620
SAT Subject: US History-560, Biology E-540
Extracurriculars: Pretty good-leadership positions and tutoring jobs

did anyone in socal get this yet?

if the rsvp thing lets us confirm, does that mean we are invited but have yet to receive it in the mail?

im in Socal and i got it
yes there is a reception in LA
http://admissions.ucsc.edu/chancellor_reception/LA.cfm

i think it means we probably got in lol cuz its "For invited students and their guests only."

gj guys lol

I got one today and I'm from So. Cal. Does this really mean something positive?!? Anyone have any experience about this from last year???

^^^^^^^^^^^^

I just talked to one of my friends who applied and he did NOT get this (or anything) and I'm waiting to hear from another friend who applied to see if she got one. I googled this and I think this is the first year they've done this (correct me if I'm wrong!).

But just thinking about the timing -- admissions notifications start on the 15th and in LA our reception is on the 25th, so why would they have you go to a reception 10 days after NOT being accepted?!? (oops, I'm being logical). :-)

I don't think it means anything - I RSVP's despite not having gotten
an invite, and it went through.

I talked to two of my other friends and one received it and the other did not. I think Norules you can certainly sign up for it if you have the id no. they gave you, but it does say for invited students. I'm curious to know who did NOT receive it.

10 days until decisions

I think that if it were truly an "exclusive" invite for accepted students then
I would not have been able to sign up for it. (never got an invite, but signed up to see what would happen).

I got one today for SoCal

my d got one last Fri. for a reception in Costa Mesa on the 24th...a friend of hers at her school also got one

since acceptance is on the 15th, I'm assuming the invites are only going to those in accepted pool who are also going to be eligible for a Chancellors scholarship

as someone else said, if you are rejected why would they have you coming to a reception?

hope so!

interesting that the timing is right before the UCLA and UCB decisions come out...

Do you know exactly what is going to happen at this reception?

Is it basically just a sales pitch for Santa Cruz? and do we have to be dressed formally, or will just regular "nice clothes" be fine?
