I’ve received my undergrad acceptance letter, a GAP med program invitation, and an academic scholarship notification so far. If I’m eligible for the Chancellor’s Scholarship, should I have received a letter by now? If not, when should I expect the letter, and when is the scholarship application due?
Also, am I invited to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship only if I’ve paid my deposit? Can I be invited without paying it?
The notification is part of the academic scholarship letter. If it isn’t on your letter, you weren’t nominated. Congrats on your scholarship. Keep in mind there are only about a dozen Chancellor’s scholarships, so don’t stress if you weren’t nominated.
@college1721, Congrats on your scholarship and GAP med invitation, both big achievements! As 1art1science has already stated, the Chancellor’s invite does come with the initial scholarship letter.
And just for the reference of anyone else reading this thread - none of our scholarships are awarded only to students who have deposited. All admitted students who applied before December 15 are automatically reviewed for our scholarships.
@hailtopitt1787 Just another suggestion I’d like to pass along. My D received an email stating that all her Chancellor’s Scholarship items have been received and her application is complete. This is greatly appreciated but no where in the email is Pitt mentioned - even the email address is a gmail address. They might want to brand it or at least mention Pitt.
@college1549, I am not entirely sure. You should hear back shortly after you have submitted your application - but our office and the Honors College have been closed since Dec 23 and will be closed until Jan 3, so please factor that time in as you wait to hear back. Thanks for your patience!
@college1549 – from looking at the last few years Chancellors threads, it appears that the interview invitations come via email. Late January/early February looks to be the consistent timing for the invitation.
Once all of your transcripts/LORs and essays have been received, you do receive a confirmation email.
@hailtopitt1787
How long after submitting the application for the Chancellor’s Scholarship might Pitt email to inform DD that all the items for her application have been received? She submitted her essays and information by the three week deadline in early December and received confirmation by the school guidance department and those writing letters of recommendation that their part was completed. I remember seeing it may not update on the web site, but want to be sure they have all materials needed.
Thanks!
@flashk, I am not quite sure on the time frame. In the Help section of the CS application site, there should be information on someone you can contact to confirm.
So I was nominated for the Chancellor’s scholarship and submitted the corresponding material in November. All is well and good there; I received the confirmation email that everything has been received. Today, though, I got an email telling me about an Honors visit day for admitted honors students. I think I remember reading that if I am a finalist for the Chancellor’s scholarship, I will need to visit campus again anyway for an interview. My family and I really only have the time and resources to visit campus again once this spring, and if I don’t go for the Chancellor’s interview then I will want to go to the Honors visit day. Do you have any sense when I might hear back about whether or not I am a finalist for the scholarship? Thank you!
@JemmaSimmons, Here is the info on the selection process for the Chancellor’s Scholarship:
“Up to 80 Chancellor’s Scholarship nominees will be invited to an on-campus interview with the University Honors College. Submitted Chancellor’s Scholarship applications are reviewed continuously as they are submitted and nominees are notified of whether they have or have not been awarded an interview soon afterwards. In all cases, nominees will hear of their status no later than April 15.”
@carachel2–she submitted everything at least 6 weeks ago. In the Q and A section it says it could take up to 8 weeks for the transcript and recommendations to be marked as received. I’m hoping that’s the case.
