Chancellor's Scholarship

i don't think anyone has heard back yet. i think the email says that interviews begin in january so i'm sure we'll be finding out soon... i hope

Yikes, interview notifications are supposed to start on Jan. 1? Do they come by letter or email? And if by the former, isn't Jan 1st considered a holiday-so no mail. I'm really hoping it arrives Dec.29th or something.

Also. If you get invited for the interview, do you pay for all of your expenses (plane ticket, hotel, etc)?

Oh, forgot to put my stats in this:
SATs: 1520/2250
SAT IIs: 800 USH, 750 L, 720 Chem
GPA: #1 in class

OUT of state

last year interview notifications were sent by email. i had one of the earliest deadlines to return the application and i was notified on january 4th. the interview notifications are sent on a rolling basis relative to the date your application was due. Pitt does not pay for your travel and hotel expenses to the interview...but if you get the scholarship it more than makes up for it.

you sure they don't pay for expenses. most school spay for scholarships of this sort. it might dissuade few qualified to balk at Pitt.

^ well, I'm sure you can probably ask. But for 90% of the people (who live in PA or OH or just the NE in general), you should be able to get to Pitt w/o much problem

anon they are very critical. Look for extracurriculars, leadership, etc. I know quite a few top notch students who didn't get Chancellors. Everyone who got the Chancellors offer already have great grades and stuff. I didn't even bother considering I had all of like 2 years of ec's :P. You got full tuition though already right?

I was saying it wouldn't be hard to travel to pitt, nothing about the difficulty of the scholarship. I'm sure it's pretty difficult, if people with 1400's aren't even getting any scholarships...

yeah i got full tuition, really happy about that :)

^wow that sucks. Lucky I got in 2 years ago or I'd get owned haha.

Ahhh, this sucks. I was really hoping that they'd pay for travel/lodging expenses since I can't afford going from MN. Sadly I don't just have 400 bucks to spend on a weekend for a possible scholarship.

Hey guys. Got my letter today. Unfortunately, I was not invited to the interview. For the record here are my stats:

34ACT
3.89 GPA
OK essays
OK/good ECs
Great recs

sugar_sweet111, did your letter come in the mail or by e-mail?

Thanks for letting us know how it worked out for you sugar_sweet111. I'm sorry that you won't be interviewing for the Chancellor's. It sounds like it is an amazingly competitive process. That said, you should be very, very proud of your full tuition scholarship!

hey sugarsweet,

how long did it take to receive the notification in the mail after you had received the email saying that they got your application?

The letter came by mail, and I remember I was one of the first to get the application and all of its notifications. Ehh..I don't remember the exact date right off the bat, but I remember someone posting their notification date and that was mine too. The letter came on Jan. 3

my friend got a letter saturday too. he was declined as well. i remember he submitted his app a little before me, and I found out later than most of you guys so i'm sure we'll be finding out this week.

his stats:
GPA: 4.1 top 10-15%
ACT: 32
i'm sure his essays were good
and he definitely got good recs

I just reviewed their timeline. It said that notifications of interviews run January 1 - March 31 and that the interviews themselves run February 1 - April 7. Just some random info.

Well, I thought some of you would want to know that s just received his email inviting him for the on-campus interview for the Chancellors Scholarship. From what I can tell, there is no cost reimbursement. We are coming from Chicago, so we will have to do a cost-benefit analysis.

I just got the email today too!! I am invited to interview as well, but I live in Pittsburgh so that will not really be a problem. I am extremely excited!

Good luck to everyone else!!

^ congrats!
