Being from Socal I will not be able to go, however I have RSVPd for the Southern California Event on tuesday the 10th @ 6:30pm at Pasadena City College

I’m thinking of going to the Southern California Reception @ Pasadena City College… does anybody know what will take place there? Can I bring my mom or should I go alone?

lololol eyethink that’s also what i’ve heard! i’m set on bringing my car though.

i would be down to meet except for the fact that i’m getting there around 2, my mom sees this as an extension of mother’s day so ill be glued to her the whole time, and my sibling is coming from davis to also check it out with us…its going to be a bit of chaos.
if by some miracle you do end up going to berkberk then hit me up!!

I’ll be at Cal tomorrow. Bringing my mom, who is so stoked about all this. Bonus, my acceptance also works as a Mothers Day gift! I’ll be the confused tall and fat guy stumbling around with my eyes wide and mouth agape in awe and wonderment.

I will be viewing apartments in the morning and going to the reception later on. Apparently a select few of admits were invited to a special reception with the Vice Chancellor before the real reception. My friend who was admitted to the same major was invited while I was not, oh well because I have apartment viewing appointment anyway.

Someone please tell me it wasn’t that great so I don’t feel as bad for missing it… I was invited to the vice chancellor’s reception as well… kinda bummed out for not attending either reception :/

just had a great day wandering the streets/campus of Berkeley. CAMPUS IS JUST WOW…it was my first time actualllyy going onto the campus. Checked out the dorms and they were decent…i think i’m set on living in the units.

didn’t go to the actual Zellerbach thing though…somebody who went should fill all of us in :D

I went, it was cool. The speakers were kind of lame, but it made me feel all lucky and **** for getting in (18k applicants, the most ever/ most competitive, only 25% admit rate or so). But that part was sort of a waste of time; I would have left early to go meet with L&S advisers and financial aid, and as it stands I didn’t because there were so many people in line afterward. But there was some tables set up, with various organizations (ethnic-centered groups, academic groups, reps from the different colleges). Not quite the club thing they apparently do at the start of school, this was much smaller. Anyway, I wasn’t, eh, represented at those tables, so my mom and I walked around the campus, watched some Aztec-ish drummers and dancers, and I bought a New Era Cal hat, which I am now curving the bill and removing the sticker, since to rock it flat/ stickered isn’t my style. Then we had lunch at some place, and walked around Berkeley.

All in all, it was ok. I’m expecting a lot more out of CalSO, though. Also, there are a lot more ■■■■■■ around Telegraph than I remembered, but coming from Santa Cruz, I’m pretty used to it. Still, if you bring a car, expect it too get broken into. That way if it doesn’t, you can be pleasantly surprised. I’m already making plans to sell mine, since the proximity of BART and the nice bike areas seem to be the best bet.

I went and it started slightly late. Chancellor Birgeneau did not make an appearance. Instead the VP and Director of Admissions both spoke. They really pushed that YOU WERE ACCEPTED FOR A REASON and that there were no “accidents”. This apparently has the toughest year with over 16,000 applicants and each application was reviewed four times. The ceremony targeted indecisive students and welcomes the ones who’d already SIR’d. There were two student speakers and then everyone was dismissed to look at the various campus clubs and departments that were taking questions. The Financial Aid line and the Letters & Science line were both very long so I just collected my poster and pin and walked around campus a bit.

So I had a little parking dilemma.
The facility that I parked in charged $10 and all I had was a twenty and four ones. Needless, I left the ones and a business card with a I.O.U note and ended up getting change at lunch. Everything turned out fine.
