ChanceMe for T20s

Please be 100%, brutally honest. I was honestly just a bit nervous about my chances as obviously most decisions haven’t come out yet, so I was wondering if I could get chances here to alleviate stress a bit. Idk if it will work though

Major: Business/Econ

Demo: Indian Male, live in an upper-middle class area

Standardized: 1600 SAT, 36 ACT

Grades: 4.0 UW, 4.7 W. Class rank not given, but I go to a T10 Public School in one of the most competitive states. 10 APS, 5s and As in all, as well as an A+ in AP CS and APUSH. Calc BC/Differential Equations, AP German, AP Lit, AP World/USH/Euro and AP Macro are the highest “levels” of courses I have taken for each subject.

Awards/ECs:

National Merit Scholar

AIME 2x

Varsity soccer 2 years, team reached State Semis this year

10th in the state out of around 300 students in Bio League, team got 2nd overall

8th in the state out of around 350 students in Chem League, team got 3rd overall

HSNCT All-Star (NAQT) sophomore year

Math Team President, 2 years

Quizbowl President, 2 years

Volunteered with North-South Foundation for math lessons with underprivileged students, maybe 40-50 hours across my 4 years.

Essays/LOR:

My essays I think were honestly great, I’ve always been a great writer and I put a ton of effort into them. LORs will probably be pretty generic though, your average “star student” stuff without anything specific. So maybe 8.5/10 essays, 7/10 LORs.

Out of the Ivies, I applied to:

UPenn

Cornell

Columbia

Brown

Other schools were Northeastern, Carnegie Mellon, Rutgers, Boston University, University of Rice, UChicago, and NYU.

Academics and tests seem to be at the level for the ivies, but very hard to say whether your extras/application will be deep enough, well written enough or enough of a differentiator for one of them to select you. Evan though you have a few tough ones in the rest of your list, I think you will be admitted to the majority of those, but maybe not all. No need to answer, but are your grades flawless or do you have a few blemishes? Did your A+'s balance with a few B’s to make the 4.0? What separates you from the valedictorian? You are positioning yourself as an academic/test powerhouse and you will be compared against the very best. Congratulations on being an excellent applicant.

Well your stats certainly are not going to deter your acceptances! However, friendly reminder that it isn’t your stats that are going to get you in. Once you have a 1450+ SAT / 32+ ACT and 3.9+ UW GPA with a rigorous course load, you have likely passed the threshold. Any improvements past that will likely not affect your outcome that much, at least with schools like the Ivies.

Your awards seem to further distinguish your academic abilities. Clearly you will perform well academically wherever you go. My main concern would be your EC’s.

So you led a few clubs, volunteered some, and did soccer. That’s perfectly fine and I hope you enjoyed those activities, but with schools with 10% or less acceptance rates, nothing is going to stand out for them in that section. Since you asked me to be “brutally honest”, I would say this might lead to some waitlists or even rejections. But please don’t take this the wrong way, as long as these activities fulfilled you, you should be happy with what you did and not beat yourself up over it. And if you are really able to articulate their significance to you in your essays, then colleges will likely be able to visualize your potential impact on campus extracurricularly.

I think you should be excited and NOT fret about the decisions. Admissions are always crazy and unpredictable, ESPECIALLY this year. I am sure that your stats and essays will bring you to a college that gives you everything that you need and want. Best of luck!

P.S. I have never heard of a University of Rice, did you mean Rice University? LOL

To be brutally honest - you will not get into any colleges if you keep on posting fake profiles for whatever reasons.

This is why past posts are important. You have somebody like this, posting a profile of a superstar, making the students who are real Juniors and Seniors who come here for advice feel inadequate and worried about their chances, since they compare themselves to this type of profile. Why somebody would do this escapes me.

In your previous thread, you said that you took 11 AP’s and got 5’s on all of them. Now, you’re saying that you took 10 AP’s. Also, aren’t you a sophomore? Not sure what’s up here.

My man really stalking me on a college confidential thread huh…

My man really created fake ChanceMe profiles :skull:
