Chances for: NYU (not stern), Vandy, Tulane, Baylor, SMU, UT, BU, BC, U of South, Bucknell (both parents and two grandparents legacy)

Michigan: match
NYU: match
Vandy: slight reach
Tulane: safe match
Baylor: safety
SMU: safety
UTexas: safety
BU: match (hesitant to call it safe match but it might be)
BC: slight reach
U of South: haven't heard of it
Bucknell: match

I think I already posted chances for you on another thread. Like I said before, get some bigger reaches! You never know who might accept you...

(your matches and safeties are very good...if you like all of those schools that could be a final list for matches/safeties)

These schools are in no particular order (just going off of USWNR). While I of course have little faith in the rankings, they do GENERALLY reflect the caliber of a given school. Hence, all these schools will be reaches for you.

Choose no more than 1 off of this list (only if you really like the school...chances will be low here):
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
UPenn
Duke
MIT
Stanford
CIT
Columbia
Dartmouth

Choose no more than 2 more off of this list:
Northwestern University
Washington University in St. Louis
Brown University
Cornell University
Johns Hopkins
University of Chicago
Rice
Notre Dame

Ok thanks...yeah my GPA might drop though, and track isn't going well (got a bad knee)

NYU-slight reach
Vandy-slight reach
Tulane-match
Baylor-safety
SMU- safety
UT (Austin, I assume?)-match
BU-strong match
BC-slight reach
U of South-safety
Bucknell-match

Like stambliark, I think your chances are pretty good at any of the schools on your list except possibly Vanderbilt, NYU, or Boston College. I agree with the rest of his chances, but I'd move Boston U to a definite match; my friend was accepted with a full tuition scholarship with lower stats than you (he was a National Achievement finalist, though). The University of the South, or Sewanee as it's known in the South, is definitely a safety. I think Wake Forest, Furman, Elon, Emory (reach), and Davidson (reach) might fit you well in the South; Colgate, Wesleyan, and Dickenson might fit you in the North. Deine chancen sind sehr gut, und dein GPA sieht ganz gut aus!

Danke schon! Einen Person, der wiess Deutsch!

Someone told me my chances at a school like tulane were 1/5...is this true?

Chances at Tulane are much better than 1/5.

Median test scores at Tulane range from about 1260-1390. Tulane also accepts roughly 60% of the students that are in the top 10% of their high school class.

I would say based on your rank I would say you have a 60% chance of being accepted. I would say based on your SAT you would have a 85% chance of being accepted. Therefore, I would your chances somewhere around 70%.

Hope that helps.

PS I got this info through a bit of number crunching. But I would say it is fairly accurate. And remember, when you use numbers, you will never have a 100% chance of being admitted anywhere (you never know which 1400's that got rejected from Tulane were cheaters, felons, etc).

But def. good shot.

yeah, exactly...
my parents think im destined to fail
Also, my school just dropped reporting class rank, if that means anything

NYU, Vanderbilt, BC-slight reaches
The rest are matches/safeties.
I agree- try for some more prestigious schools unless you really like the ones you are planning to apply to...
Perhaps some ivies or LAC's like Davidson, W & L, maybe Chapel Hill, UVA, W & M, UCB...

also:
work on your EC's a bit, I think they may bog you down a bit, truly make the most of your summer. Start a charity drive at your church, volunteer, get a job/internship. Good Luck~!

hmmm ok. Yeah this summer im getting another job and increasing volunteering a bit...hope it will help...

will the ECs carry that much weight @ my matches? i tried to pick schools that seemed more stats driven

also: UT austin a safety, reach or match? (out of state)

Other possible schools?:

Miami U
Rhodes College
Furman
Syracuse

Also, consider my stats w/out class rank...our school isn't reporting it anymore.

bump...............
